  1. I have heard that after 10 years you don't need to worry bout the airbags cause they are past their life span or something, so you can take them out legally. Any truth to that? Does sound a little odd to me...
  2. I tested myself and scraped in at 94.5 dB. I thought it'd be allot quieter when i went to go buy an "HKS Silent high power". Guess not. The zaust is a rage 3" downpipe and midpipe, with the HKS muffler. Recently failed a wof cause the muppets played the "it's louder than factory" card. Fair enough i guess though, since they didn't have testing equipment, got it sorted in the end.
  3. Pretty shitty powdercoating that flakes off after 100,000K's.
  4. Looks when i was a kid was a biiiiiig factor. I just reckon they NAILED it with the GC8's and BG's. Then i started to learn about the boxers and AWD, and that just cemented them in place as favoritest cars ever. ;D That boxer rumble is also soo good. I couldn't own anything else now, it just isn't right if it isn't an AWD boxer. Mitsi's i also like somewhat, i've never got the rivalry before, the EVO's and STi's share so much in common, with the rally heritage and AWD etc. But at the end of the day, they are yet another inline 4, boooring.
  5. I also think mods need to know how to use a forum, for doing other things like tidy up broken quote box's and stuff. Also can we get another nomination if they decline? My nomination goes to koom as a tech or general mod. Been here 'since ages ago' and knows his shit. Well i don't know about that... i may know some stuff regarding TT's, but have generally been owned in past for getting stuff wrong (eh koom ). Plus i've learnt most of what i know from the interwebs, and not from actual experience I would decline if nominated for a tech mod. But as a general mod, sure, would love to help out.
  6. Oh that has to be one of my favorites of all time.
  7. There should be some anonymity with the moderation too. Just cause someone's a n00b or not respected, doesn't mean they don't know a bad post when they see it. Maybe when points are issued, it should be put up in the mod section to be approved. if you get another mod or two to say "yep, that deserves some points" then they are issued. Allot of sh!t fights would have been averted if so and so didn't know specifically who gave them a warning.
  8. Lol, they used a bunch of my pics too, heh. Does anyone know if this will be going in the mag?
  9. You know, i'd be happy to help out moderating, but the first thing that came to my mind is exactly what turtle mentioned, i don't think i'd be suitable in that case : I fully agree, the mods have to carry a little respect with them, so people don't call the whaaaaaambulance when they get moderated.
  10. Yeah, i've never had issues with mine either, it's a GReddy one.
  11. Name: Reuben Age: 21 Location: North Shore, Auckland. Occupation: Trained commercial pilot - yet to get to get a job. Presently I make planes for a flight sim called X-Plane, and sell them online. This will pay for my ticket to oz to get a real job as a pilot - and why i spend so much time on the forum (work at home). Subaru's Owned Before: 1994 Liberty LX (2.2L FWD) - Yep, oz import Subaru's Owned Now: 1998 Legacy GTB Limited (BG) (Single converted) Length of Ownership: 3.5 years. Other interesting facts: Aviation is my second passion, subies have crept into the No. place in my heart for some un-known reason ;D. Been on the club a measly 2 years or less, still consider myself a n00b. Favorite quote of the week: "The intarnets are seriose business." [sic]
  12. I see i see. May be a winner. Just keep looking on trademe stira, there's heaps if you simply seach "legacy RS-B Manual" And weight? no? There's only like 20-40KG's difference between BG/BH for example, actually not much at all. I just like poking my tounge at the BH's (It stir's chris/mint gtb up )
  13. Line 12 is the one i always hear, that just goes straight from the intake manifold to the solenoid box.
  14. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/legacy/auction-208858250.htm This looks like a nice example. Low k's, been serviced etc. The price being so cheap, and the new AFM may be telling signs though.
  15. when it comes to B4 vs RSB, it's personal preference. When choosing mine, I could have gone either way, but I really didn't like my dads BH. things like the steering was too light, car's to heavy etc. Some prefer the refinement however, and they really do feel like limousines sometimes. Great for cruising. If i had to go through it all over again, i would still chose a Gen-II any day, without hesitation. As for the rebuilt thing, may be a good idea. Sometimes it may be better to just look for one that has simply been un-touched (i.e, no ricer mods) and has a service history.
  16. Sure why not? If you're talking RSB, that means gen-II. You're one and only option then is to get a manual RSB, since it's the only one with the EJ20R (better heads, better ECU, yellow tops, bigger turbo's etc - pretty much the STi's twin turbo brother). Also makes it dead easy to do a single conversion if you're that way inclined. Beware the BEB failures though - make sure you can afford a rebuild (not that hard considering how cheap these cars are now). If you're open to B4's, the Manuals again are the ones to go for. Don't even bother with auto. That said, they are not as different like the EJ20H/R's were. At least with the auto gen 3's, you still get yellow top injectors like the manuals.
  17. Yeah sorry, the pics will be back on the 16th.... bloody photobucket and it's bandwidth restrictions And no i don't have a good copy, just a plain text copy. I can re-host the pics elsewhere if you want.
  18. It's not even that hard, have you read that conversion thread i wrote? Basically you take your turbo's off, and stick a single one back on, and find an ECU to go with. It's been done in a single weekend.
  19. Yep, opticals is a beast. I would NOT complain about that setup Gotta pour allot of money into a twin parallel to make it better than a single though
  20. I put my money on the mainly for looks argument Why are radiators painted black? Why is a legacy intercooler painted black, and an STi one silver.
  21. One thing you can't forget about running twin parallel is that.. well, you're running 2 turbos on one engine. That is, you're halving the exhaust gas to power each turbo. *I can only speculate on this*, but it seems very inneficient to me. At the end of the day, if your 2 turbo's match the same flow rate as a single large turbo with the same ammount of lag, there's simply no point in wasting all that time and money on twin. Does someone want to point out if there are combinations of turbo's that flow better and lag less? or is running twin simply for massive top end power?
  22. Re-check your ZS wiring, you get all sorts of codes when that's wired wrong. Be pedantic about it. If that's not it, i have a stack of solenoids left over from the conversion should one be broken. They're from a BG though.
  23. What happened to the old GTB engine clint, i thought that was a BEB too?
