  1. I thought you only just got the BIlsteins? I would possibly be interested..what happened to the springs? Did you put the tein springs onto standard shocks? I'm sure the pic you posted a while back had yellow shocks with green springs? Or am I imagining things?
  2. Indeed, though understanding the reasons behind people's choices is still very informative.
  3. This could have been avoided if my original post said "everyone here appears to drive re003s" instead of "everyone here appears to drive Bridgestones",given that is what I meant:)
  4. I knew that right after I brought tyres they would have a sale again...But I want to drive to work on Monday so didnt want to wait!
  5. Yeah potenzas sound great but don't really meet the brief for a car that will spend most of it's life sitting in traffic on SH16. I was convinced on zetums but struggled to find somewhere convenient to get them fitted before I go back to work on Monday. Ended giving the pirelli dragon sport a go since hyper drive are having a sale as per one of the previous posts. If I don't like them, when my wife's tyres wear out I'll give her my 17s and upgrade to 18s. Ecopias probably would have been ideal for crawling in traffic, but Bridgestone don't have any discounts going at the moment and I'm getting a bunch of work done to my car so saving a little bit of cash swayed me.
  6. Cheers AJ. I'll be bringing my new BPE and the wife's 2.0i in to see you soon! Figure I should learn to so some basics like oil and air filters myself though:)
  7. What oil are people with EZ30s running? I guess this should possibly be in the dumb questions thread. My research tells me 5w30 is the default and 10w40 if in hot climates/if you thrash it. Will probably stick with 5w30 but am curious what brand of oil people are using in their ez30? I know SFA about oil, so am Leaning towards Penrite because that's what @Subirex Automotive uses when he services my cars or maybe Castrol Magnatec for something slightly cheaper but still a reputable brand.
  8. Thanks for all the feedback guys, I'm willing to give zetums a go, but given tyres last a while and are what connects to you to the road I may still go with some bridgestones (figure having good tyres is like having insurance...i.e. protecting you against a low probability, high cost outcome). Plus, can't seem to find anywhere in West Auckland that has Zetums (online atleast) for a good price and there is a Bridgestone place in Avondale and I am lazy! One final question RE Bridgestone. Any thoughts on the Ecopia range (PZX) or Tourenza (serenity plus) as options for sitting in traffic on the NW motorway everyday? Assuming they will be a bit cheaper than the Potenza but still decent?
  9. Christmas time when you are a Subaru family
  10. oops, should have read the OP! Oh well, hopefully useful info for next time someone searches the topic on here!
  11. Bit late to the party on this one, babyonthemove recommended the safe'n'sound capsule for a BP legacy as the curved seats mean they have had issues getting other bases to fit. Bonus is that the capsule is bigger than most so lasts till they are 12 months instead of most which babies outgrow after 3 months.
  12. Totes. Only issue is that tyres that came with car won't pass WOF, so need to sort something now. So while it's the ideal time to upgrade, I don't have rims sorted. I can always slap the 17s on my wife's car and then flick her 16s when/if I upgrade.
  13. I like how "daily driving" for you basically spans highway/city driving and off-road rallying, haha. Otherwise, your post is on topic:)
  14. Bracket was missing, asked Strongs about it and they they sorted:one for me despite the fact that the bracket wasn't in the photos so they could have been dicks about it. Picked it up this morning:)
  15. Link? Best deals I have found are: $129 fitted http://buyatyre.co.nz/tyres-for-passenger-vehicles/215-45R17-zetum-zu37-sport $105 non-fitted http://factorytyres.co.nz/product/zetum-zu37-sport/ I don't have the tools to fit them myself so will probs need get to get someone to do it.
  16. What do you like about them? Just though I would tease this out a bit more before I blindly follow your recommendation;) Nevermind, just serached the CD forum for Zetum and can see everyone raving about them! Now to find who has them in Auckland...
  17. Haha, go-karts only have two pedals so I'm not sure what you are on about...
  18. Got an xmas present (pedal covers) for my xmas present (car), though the footrest doesn't quite match up..
  19. Based on the "what tyres are running threads", everyone here seems to be running Bridgestones. Just wondering what people think is good value for for an all season tyre for a BP legacy wagon? Will spend most of its life sitting in Auckland traffic with occasional long drives over summer etc.. and I won't be running a different set for summer/winter. I'm also a relative cautious driver and will often have a baby in tow, so even on the open road I won't be pushing it too hard and therefore won't see too much benefit from something high end. So I'm trying to find the middle ground/spot that isn't crap but won't sting the wallet.... Stock 17" rims, so 215/45/R17 (from memory).

  21. Didn't do anything to my car, but I did buy a car...meet my new 2004 3.0, which I am affectionately calling beige-lightening...generally wouldn't got for that colour interior but I got a sweet deal on the car!
  22. Haven't had a chance to drive it much yet as it is massively overdue for a service (recently clicked over 100k so all the fluids/filters need to be done) and it needs new tyres and a wheel alignment as the previous owner has been driving it for a year with wheels badly out of alignment so tyres have really uneven wear. Best description, relative to the BH and BP 2.0 NA wagons we already have, is "smooth". Just kind of sneaks up to 100km/h without even realising it or feeling like you are going fast. Once it receives some love I will have a bit more fun with it...
  23. And you've probably already browsed these two garage threads, but good CS examples of BH and a BP. And I actually bought a 3.0 BP today, so the wagon mafia has a new member:) Had been torn on what to buy for a while and eventually came to the conclusion that since I can't do the work myself, I was better off buying a newer car that needed less work than an older car where by the time I had paid someone else to fix it up I was spending roughly the same money. Though time is scarce for me as we just had a baby, if I had the time to learn to do more work myself my decision might have been different!
  24. If you got a 3rd gen rev d you would be way under your 12k budget, at least on the initial purchase price of the car...will be harder to find one with low kms though as they are getting old now. I think if you were looking for more of a project, buying a 3rd gen would be a good option, whereas if you want to buy something and just do incremental tinkering/handling upgrades, getting a low km 4th gen would be the way to go. Though take my opinion with a grain of salt as my experience on modding/doing mechanical work myself is zilch!
  25. On a quick skim of the Japanese auctions, the 04/05 GTs appear to have a 2 letter emissions code (eg.g. TA-BP5) but there are 06 GTs that have 3 letter (e.g. CBA-BP5) and therefore could be imported.
