Ah nice! Was this the one that had been at Ajay's for a little while? Nice to see good power and looking immaculate!
Indeed it was! yeah its tidy as, just need to put the original badges etc back on it!

Yeah same It made me smile even before the tune! now it does other things to me lol!

Okay. I know the 2.5s had a bad reputation. All depends how its been looked after. So hard to tell.
Yeah true im still wary about the engine failures the pre 2010 models have.. i badly want one but cant afford a 2010 model...

they are pretty good.. the stock turbo is rather small but generally its a well setup car
i have worked on a few of them for various power mods and still keeping them very practical
what area are you in
Yeah okay thats good to know thanks!

Hi guys I'm looking at buying a 2006 Forester STI and was just wondering if there is any known issues with these vehicles? they are obviously a 2.5 motor and people say the Subaru 2.5 motors are known for doing head gaskets.. I love the idea of the STI Forester being quick great looking and very practical!
Any tips or known issues would be muchly appreciated

Hi guys
So the Heater core in my 1989 Subaru Leone has decided to leak and from what i can see online etc its a pretty major job to replace it, obviously the other option would be to just bypass it in the engine bay but it gets cold in the winter!
Has anyone replaced one before? and if so what is involved?

Hey everyone
Im finally back in a Subaru, used to have a 04 v9 wrx hatch years ago some of you may remember
Anyway, typical jap import has the talking card reader I'll take out soon but what have people done with the GPS screen above the stereo?
Currently it shows me driving around the ocean constantly, I know you can swap the unit out for a pocket but can't see the point in doing so
Does anyone know of anyway to replace the brains of it and get it working in NZ? Or, has anyone managed to modify one and put another screen/GPS unit in its place?
These guys did my 06 Legacy but it may not work on all nav systems

Hi guys so I have an na 1999 forester C/20 manual and recently the reverse gear stopped working
It all started when I got it stuck down by the river and I was tryna reverse out and it did involve high revs and a few clutch dumps lol that's what the old foresters for having fun!
So once i got out it was stuck in reverse and the only way to get it out was to pop it out while rolling back and it would make a horrible noise while in reverse
So finally the other day it stopped working all together now and it just makes a grinding noise when u try to reverse - my question is now what's the best way to get it sorted? Pop a second hand box in? Or try to fix it?

And always track km per litre, not km per dollar. The price changes and F***s with your stats.
My 3.0R manual sedan will do 600 to 750k per 64L tank, depending on the right boot.
Has yours been reflashed/tuned?
-
Anyone around the Nelson Bays/Blenheim area that would lend a Tactrix cable to me? or even further afield wanting to get my 3.0R remapped

wow...
Have you tried any older versions of sti or do you want something semi new?
Well I have owened a V7 STI - nice car but wanting something new and was very impressed when I drove a V11 there are so many around surely there are other owners on here can comment, not that I dont beleive you @Kiwi_Fozze I'd just like to see what others have had

Yes, it is.
Normally between 120-150k they let go. Bad piston rings, blowby carbon build up floats the bigends.
Like, 500km post oil change, the oil is almost diesel black.
Mine let go at 110 k
Hmm that's a pity - such a nice car!

Hi team so I tried out a 2.0L 2008 V11 STI yesterday and I am so impressed I think i want to buy one now lol, but with others on here saying they blow engines etc is it really that common? I cant really afford to buy the 2010+ age ones

Na they don’t match up with the trailing arm. Only way is adaptor brackets or the setup from a Legacy with Brembo’s from the factory
Ah thought that was the case, cheers
-
Question - if i had some v7 sti rear hubs would they go onto my 2006 3.0r and if so would v7-8 brembos for the rear bolt up?

@TNHSTI it's quite common to tune first. You can gain a lot of fuel efficiency and performance over the generic stock tune without any mods.
@west_minist charges very reasonable rates for a remote tune. Not sure how the re-tune once modified would work in terms of cost.
Would be interesting to know.Okay good to know! how does he do a remote tune and anyone know costing?
-
Interesting you say to tune first? that means if you want to do any mods you would have to tune again after? doubling the cost
I have a 2006 Legacy 3.0R 6MT that I want to tune but would prefer to do some exhaust mods first.. let me know your thoughts @west_minist

awesome, messaged you about the tank - thanks
After you added the fuel sock did you end up keeping the fuel slosh mod in place also? Ajay just recommended me to find a surge sponge so I'm looking for that too from GSS
edit : oh and by the way @TNHSTI what size tank did you end up comfortably fitting in to the v7 STI? 26oz or 32oz?
No probs!
No I didn't keep it in place after as it wasn't really an issue unless I was on less than a quarter of a tank
Yeah I used a 32oz tank - bit of a squeeze getting it in the opening but it is possible
-
I tried this mod myself on my V7 STI as i was getting really bad surge but it turned out the main problem that the stock fuel sock wasn't used once I put that back on it was a lot better- not perfect but I wasn't tracking the car so wasn't too worried
I actually bought 2x of the plane fuel tank 1x which is brand new If you want it? its the exact same Dubro tank pictured

Novice here, but yeah few guys recommended the 3.0 when i was looking for a outback mainly cause apparently its super reliable and really smooth.
Ive had 6 different Legacys now from twin turbo BH5 to the facelift turbo BP5 and now i have a 6spd 3.0R and absolutely love it, sure you dont get the turbo experience but its got low down power and torque when you need it - the EZ30 is definitely no slouch especially if you do a re-flash and maybe exhaust which I am going to do at some stage..
