  1. hahaha yeah sucks been down here in Gisborne, trying to find car people to join up with and AKL is a bit for for the night meets. We got some straight Drone-pipes Miata's here who also think they are V8's
  2. Novice here, but yeah few guys recommended the 3.0 when i was looking for a outback mainly cause apparently its super reliable and really smooth.
  3. Slight update on this, and hoping some one might be able to help. Took the car to Bensons electrical and after a full day they think it's the Coil pack, the fuel is fine. So does anyone have a coil pack for one of these laying around I can at least grab to test it before buying one as they didn't seem 100% certain. happy to pay postage both ways.
  4. so signed up for this the other day, will be my first time visiting Taupo and also getting a bit of track day in on the car. Anyone else here planning on going ?
  5. Is that BRZ a joke, No we didn't really do anything, gave it some STi parts out the parts bin, a badge here or there and doubled the price on an already stupidly over priced car ? Man I still dream of a real BRZ STi
  6. figured it out, Was the Throttle Positioning Sensor. looks like unplugging stuff till it works sorted it out, will hit the plug with some brake cleaner and see if its there or if its the actual unit on the manifold.
  7. Its already got new keys, Took it to a second place for their idea, and they highly doubt its the barrel as the engine is turning over perfectly, its not flickering or anything. they think its a sensor that giving the issue, The pumping the gas pedal isn't working every time anymore. Need to figure out how to get the fault codes from the car as its got no OBDII port, Anyone know how to do it ? least that could tell me what sensor is giving the issues. but seems to be fuel not spark or start motor. Again once its up and running it drives beautifully!
  8. did it again today after driving to a client so yeah looks like it only happens when its warm, but here the plot thickens. MAte jumped into the car and while cranking it over started pumping the petrol and after a few pumps it started. drove back to the office and decided to try again and it did it again, Pumped for a little and she starts. Drove to the shop down the road who did the starter motor for the old owner and he informed me the old keys were shot and he reckons the key barrel is damaged and when turning its not making a connections somewhere, this sounds weird to me as if you pump it it does start up. anyone ? if it helps its the Impreza CS so the FWD 1.5l model.
  9. hahaha that makes sense Started again this morning, anyone got some Ideas of what I can do next time it doesn't ? sorry not super mechanical. the engine turns over just won't fire. if I could at least work through a few options might get me a step closer to figuring it out
  10. Thanks guys, got home from work and boom started first time, now I'm hell confused. I cant find the OBDII port on the drivers side. But also think my reader is dead (cheap china ELM327 one) Ganna take it to the shop tomorrow get it looked at.
  11. Would you say the non turbo GF's are as sensitive, i've got a 96 impreza I was thinking of doing a cone for a little better noise out the hood, also looking at replacing the rear muffler for same effect, its a basic one so don't care much for the actual power figures more so for my enjoyment
  12. Hey guys so picked up a old 96 Impreza over the weekend as a cheap run around, recently had its service and belts done, also had starter motor replaced. km is 220k km and today started drove to work, lunch time jumped in and drove home no issues, jumped in to go back to work and wouldn't start, getting a new warning light (Pic attached) https://ibb.co/dnjy6k Car turns over but doesn't start, Anyone got any ideas as really need to get this up and running for as little as possible :'(
  13. I love the Baja !! ! Wish we could get them, And would buy a Hatch just to do that, love it and if it was a personal car would just get more and more refined. That been said I could skip on the turbo out the hood.
  14. They are fantastic and a MUST if you going on the track, We used them in my ST track toy and everyone I raced with in Superhatch all had them fitted. Won't make much difference for road but a better pedal feel.
  15. Man that dude seriously cant drive! But agree the fact he had a Rexxy means nothing
  16. I'll keep a eye on this, got the same mindset, mainly looking for something with low road noise as well.
  17. So little update so far, and Hope I'm still welcome around these here parts Drove back from auckland to Kerikeri, cant didn't miss a beat, was a such a lovely drive. Ordered some parts online just little bits going for a OEM+ build. than ordered Quadcopter parts and the cars going to have to wait for the next batch of parts Will keep you guys updated and lets see if buying a second hand Euro car is a bad idea.
  18. Hey guys, Thanks for the updated.. Been seeing so many different cars during my 4 days here in auckland. I did choose yesterday ended up going with a A3 that checked out in been looked after, full service history and condition. I really hope we can still be friends :')
  19. was a black Outback. Cream color interior
  20. The was a 250K km 3L going close by in dagaville but its off now, guy wanted think around 4K for it. was on auction was a high spec but can't find it. I did find a 2004 A3 110K km Mechanical warranty till feb. had the big gearbox recon and coil packs at 100K complete service history and looks in very good condition I'm going to have a look at. Hopefully jumping on a bus tomorrow morning and off to Auckland, will view it and hopefully a few other cars. seem's the only way I'll pick up something decent is in the city. nothing up this side.
  21. Its so ridiculous its become cool I'm ok thanks what you guys think of this one ? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-1185916214.htm
  22. I'll take ummm what is a Justy ? ? I'll look for some wrx wagons, Already from what I've been reading just avoid the 2.5 as they love to pop gaskets rather try stick with the 2.0L The Audi is only a option as the A3's the old mechs at a few of the dealerships used to agree they were bulletproof. but lets see, the other issue is the all the nice cars are down in auckland and I'm all the way in Kerikeri with no car to get down or around. I'll continue the search today lets ee what pops us. If anyone wants to drop a link to anything they think is work looking at please do. need help
  23. hahahaha You guys do know I used to work for Audi I really do like the idea of one, but if I go for the Legacy i want Gen3 so 2004 up and that's the issue. Don't worry guys will Def's be returning to Subaru if i go with the A3, this car will push onto the Partner and I'll get my Outback. or get my outback now
