  1. Don't know much about brakes in cars but in my experience with mtb/mx bike brakes it could be a bit of air in the system? They might just need a bleed Edit: Didn't read the post properly, my bad haha
  2. Mint 3.0R for sale on Trade Me at the moment:
  3. Did a quick photoshop for ya. Not a fan of the black myself Original: Black: Gunmetal:
  4. Replacing the heater core isn't cheap through a workshop, as it involves removing the dash and bleeding the system etc. I got a few quotes a while back and they were all around $800
  5. Reset the ecu and took it for a run around Summit road. Before it had a bit of a misfire accelerating from idle, the reset seems to have sorted it out though.
  6. Just got a reply - the bimmersport ones were made by Jazzprint (http://jazzprint.co.nz/motortrade.php), and apparently Kieran is the man to talk to. If anyone wants his contact details send me a PM
  7. Haha, maybe if my wheels sell on TM this week. Only prob is, going by the pic you uploaded, that it might sit too low at the back (maybe the shocks are sagging a bit?)
  8. Cheers Tim! Lowering will have to wait till I have some more $$$ in the bank haha
  9. Just saw this over on the bimmersport forums: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=31869 I thought it might be a good idea for ClubSUB to do something similar - it would be a good way to advertise the club (as long as they go to responsible members) and could also be used to raise some funds - so have posted this up here as a suggestion for JoKer and the others who run the club to see. Euro plates might look a bit out of place on a Subaru, so another option could be just a standard black surround with ClubSUB.org.nz and some other text on it. Would be cheap as chips too - autographics.co.nz sell them for about $4 a pair, min order of 10. I've also asked OLLIE on bimmersport where he got them made, so when I get a reply I'll post it up here. Any thoughts?
  10. Easiest? Sell it and buy a wrx Cheapest? Sell it and buy a wrx You could drop a turbo engine in, but you would still need a stronger gearbox, as well as better brakes and suspension, etc. Would need to be certed as well. Edit: too slow haha
  11. Just got the car back, sounds mint now. It sounds deeper and has a bit more of a rumble, without being too loud. It doesn't drone at low revs either. Might post a video up for the other TS-R owners on here when I get the chance.
  12. My legacy is booked in tomorrow for a cat back exhaust so thought I'd bring this back up again. The plan is to get 2.25" from the cat back, with a bullet/coby style chambered resonator to replace the factory ones. Was quoted about $230 Is this the best way to go about making it sound better? (other than getting unequal length headers made up which would be way too expensive)
  13. Just had a closer look at carjam and apparently my legacy had a COF (rather than a WOF) for just over a year back in 2005/6. I think that means I bought an ex rental car? I looked at the report many times before buying it and never noticed it
  14. How many km's has it done now Tim? Could also be a water pump on its way out. My legacy made a squeaking noise that sounded like a slipping belt - turned out it was being caused by the water pump which was starting to seize up. Water pumps should be replaced at the same time as the cambelt and tensioners, but obviously one of the previous owners took a shortcut
  15. I'd be interested to find out what it is if you manage to fix it as my 95 TS-R does the same, and it does have a bit of a flat spot between 2-2.5k rpm (which is more noticeable when cold)
  16. Make sure you read the fine print... I once had a dealer trying to convince me that I would be covered by the mechanical warranty if the cambelt broke on a car I was looking at (they didn't know when it was last changed and didn't have any receipts), but I read the fine print to find out what was covered by it and found out that they were just spinning shit You usually have to stick to a reasonably strict servicing schedule, otherwise the warranty will be void. With a turbo subaru it might be a good idea to get a mechanical warranty, especially one with higher mileage, but I can't really comment on how useful they are as I've never purchased one
  17. Cheers for the pic. Yeah I figured it would which is why I'm asking what to block it up with. Apparently you can get OEM Subaru "fender plugs" but no doubt that Armstrong Subaru would charge an arm and a leg for one.
  18. Just did this on my ts-r this arvo. Definitely noticed a change in intake noise, sounds nice What's a good way to plug the hole that's left in the inner guard (pictured below)? Also, is it necessary to close up the gap between the air box? (like the foam tape used here: http://www.scoobymods.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3348&d=1104450164)
  19. Had a service the week before the trip - new oil, filters, all fluids checked etc
  20. Damn, on my last trip to dunedin my ts-r used at least 10l/100km! (on Shell v power and 95 from BP). Pretty disappointing, wasn't driving with economy in mind though...
  21. Legacy just got new oil, filters, wheel allignment, brake pads, and a few other things. Running mint now. And some bogan in a silver rs tried to race me at the lights down moorehouse ave, not sure what he was trying to prove against a non turbo wagon. Hahaha
  22. Test drove the GTB again, was impressed with how it went, although the piston slap is bloody annoying and even when warm it is still there, just very faint... but it doesn't have an aftermarket exhaust to drown it out haha. He's dropped to 4.4k as I bargained him down a bit, so it's pretty tempting Also, it seems that all the other GTB's on trademe in Chch have also been run on 95, and asked another subaru mechanic and he said that it shouldn't be a problem at all (but reading around on the net suggests otherwise)
