  1. Hey guys, I have just bought a set of coilovers in Auckland that I need to get to Wellington. Anyone driving that direction some time soon? I'll flick you some petrol money, obviously, and I can collect anywhere in the Wellington region. Cheers (Double posted to Auckland forum :-X)
  2. Swapped out the dash cluster bulbs for blue LEDs. Nice soft glow, me likey. Also drove into the back of the GF's Mistral. Lucky I just nudged the spare, no damage done.
  3. Hey guys, Just in case anyone knows this car... A house around the corner from me was burgled the other day. A wallet (among other things) was taken and because the dork who did it isn't the brightest cookie around, they've used some of the cards that were in it several times around Strathmore and the airport area. The other day they filled up their car at the Caltex by the airport. The image isn't very good but I'm 99% sure it's a silver V7 WRX. It is sitting on some quite distinctive big chrome rims. I know that people on here a. generally notice this kind of car and b. REALLY notice chromie'd WRXs so figured it was worth putting out some feelers. If you see this thing around, please contact me or the Wellington Police. The driver looks like a young-ish skinny Maori guy with a thin moustache but you'd be staggered by how awful most places security cameras are. If I can get a digital copy of the pics I'll post them. Cheers.
  4. Yeah, and he lives in Mt Vic too! Has a soft-toy jag on the parcel shelf and he's a weedy white guy so don't smash him if you see him driving it Will keep an eye out for it.
  5. I suddenly really, really want a Hello Kitty exhaust tip.
  6. This is what I'm running, can't say what it does for power but definitely brings the turbo on boost a lot earlier than the factory setup.
  7. Rage don't make the headers any more
  8. They only do them for 92-00 WRX I'll either shell out the cash for some Zerosports ones or get some made up locally.
  9. I can get Rage at reasonable prices for Wellington folks, PM me.
  10. My v7 STI sits bang on 3000rpm at ~105kmh in 6th. Which currently means to overtake (sensibly!) I just shove the go pedal down
  11. Seen the Spec C stainless mug? No handle for weight reduction, thinner, aluminium sides and the top flips up like a roof scoop
  12. Some cops are just dorks. A lot of them are good guys and gals but it's an unfortunate fact that the job attracts a few of the 'got bullied at school' types. Mind you with the cars we drive we're always going to be targets.
  13. Assuming you have a GDA/GDB I've got a MBC you can have for $100.
  14. My V3 WRX ran HEAPS better on 98. Way smoother and vastly improved fuel economy which offset the additional cost. My V7, no idea, it's only ever had 98 in it in the time I've owned it. And what argument do I use? Apart from the 'well, it hasn't broken on me yet' line, I go with "It's the quality of the k's you get from a car that matter, not the quantity"
  15. I guess you end up like some of those show cars that have been around for a while with 4 or so cert plates all over the engine bay... screw that.
  16. I was having pretty much this exact problem with the Brembos on my V7 STi. First thought was bleed (remember to do outer AND inner bleed nipples!) and that didn't solve it. Checked all the lines, brake booster, etc etc. Turned out it was the front left wheel bearing was completely f*cked and the play was causing 'knock off' in the pads - i.e. the rotor was pushing the pistons back into the caliper so that when you hit the brakes they travelled way, way further (hence resulting in that SUPER nasty feeling in your stomach when the brake pedal goes almost to the floor) In my desperation to fix it I bought another Master Brake Cylinder from a wreckers though, so if that turns out to be the problem with yours let me know since I have a spare sitting here now...
  17. Ok so I was flicking through the VIRM tonight after coming across some various murmurings throughout the internet... "LVV certification is always required for the fitting of a supercharger or turbocharger as a modification, or the substitution of a turbo or waste-gate, or the re-chipping of electronic engine control units on turbo cars" Well, I'll be. How many people, especially with Subies and their enormous variety of turbos, are running a turbo that's not original??! So my question... Has ANYONE EVER been pulled up on it? Heck there's so many of them that I dare say your average mechanic/cop isn't going to have a gander under your bonnet and say HEY THAT'S A VF24 THESE CAME OUT WITH VF28's!!! Has anyone even bothered to get it mentioned on their cert? And is it like... really even a requirement, if you go from 1 turbo to another that's damn near identical? I mean sure, if you're going from a TD04L to a twisted GT3540 then maybe someone should be double-checking your work but what about drop-in replacements?
  18. What are you looking for in particular? My friend has wrecked like 5 300z's from Japan, got a huge stack of parts for them...
  19. Zerosports cat-back, Rage 3" siamese downpipe, VF34 turbo. So not cheap, but not outrageous either.
  20. VF34'd it. Drives great. All on from about 2600rpm. Which means current mods have got the lag down roughly 1000rpm which makes it a whole lot more responsive. It doesn't engine brake much in 3rd gear upwards any more though. Just keeps gliding...
  21. Never drive my car home? Err, ok... I'll just leave it down some shady street a couple of blocks over ??? ??? ???
  22. Purchased a simply ridiculous wing for it. Impulse, oops ???
  23. Saw a black scooter being loaded onto a flatbed towtruck by Frank Kitts Park on the way home and did the biggest double take... different plate though
  24. My bone stock 96 (MY97 though, TD04 blah blah) boosted to 14psi. However yours is a MY96 so probably different...
  25. Howdy folks, My V7 is misbehaving slightly. The feel of the brake pedal is really, really inconsistent. Often, if I haven't braked for a while, I'll get close to half the pedals travel and nothing happens, then when it does the brakes are kinda spongy. If I lift then tap them again they're pretty firm and then if I lift and get back on them they're super firm and responsive like they used to be. They're Brembos, obviously, with what I think are reasonably new Brembo pads all round, OEM rotors in the rear and Znoelli Slotted + Drilled rotors up front. And just to make this a slightly tricky one, I just had them bled like 4 days ago to try and solve this issue, and they're still doing it. Vaccuum leak? Buggered brake booster? Ideas?
