  1. i have tapped it at another area but will be doing my oil pressure soon so i will take your advice! do you happen to know if the fuse box can handle at least 2 gauges? thanks :-) I dont think it would be a problem mate (someone correct me if im wrong) as long as its one gauge per fuse tap
  2. Im really keen to try replicate this Anyone know where you can get these type headlights in NZ? think these were genuine prodrive ones, but hoping theres a aftermarket company that do them.
  3. No sure if you have already done this or not, but I installed mine from the fuse box. Its really easy and I\'ve never mucked around with car wiring before. Once you work out with a test light what fuses your going tap (contant12v, ACC12v, dimmer etc) write down the amp number you need and head down to Jaycar and buy their fuses taps. Makes things super easy and a tidy install. Heres the link below http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=SF5120&keywords=fuse+tap&form=KEYWORD cheers
  4. Haha hard case ! Yea that\'s the one, done over 200k now still runs great! Amazing what a full service history can do! Bought new at wingers auckland I\'m told, so is it your old one or like you old one? I\'m the second owner
  5. Yea mate paint it factory, I\'ve seen one on a UK forum, it\'s got a metallic through it so changes a bit in the direct light. cheers
  6. Started life as a high mileage NZDM WRX and all it took was a new set of 18"wheels and some Tein coilovers to kick it all off ! now its getting performance side dealt with tomorrow with a VF30 swop etc etc! should be a bit more lively after that! The Green used to bug me, but haven\'t any other ones floating around yet (might be a reason for that haha )
  7. Cheers, and I know this does belong here but does the clock console really need a heap of force to get out !! mine seems like its welded in there, and is about to snap!
  8. Hey Guys, going to have a go at installing a Prosport Evo boost gauge this weekend. I lengthened (soldered) the boost sender unit wires as they were real short and I want to mount it in the cabin instead of the engine bay. I gone and got some wire splices as im going to tap in the clock wires. Just wondering if I can just tap into the same constant and earth wire Im going to use for the gauge itself? Cheers Gauge http://prosportgauges.com/evo-series-Red-and-Blue.aspx
  9. cheers for all the info ! i had a good yarn with a guy of this forum tonight so learnt heaps today! decided im most likely gonna start with the ARC intercooler, 3" downpipe with coni freeflow mid pipe going into the stock muffler for now, I know that will keep it pretty tame and quiet, but Im gonna be on the look out for a vf30 (if thats the right one?). Gonna have a crack at bolting it all together this weekend haha ! Can anyone recommend someone in Auckland or on the North shore that can be a tune or do a ECU flash etc? Again cheers for all the suggestions! what a mean forum!
  10. Hey mate, not sure if you are getting my PM, but keen as to grab some parts. Cheers
  11. I see you have a ARC top mount for sale, It that as big as the v7 STI? does it have the Y Section thing?
  12. Yea mate, on the Northshore, who do you recommend over there, as I\'ve also got to get my right side rocker cover gasket done. Cheers
  13. Cheers for all the answers ! I just got on Strong for Subaru and see they sold out of v7 intercoolers, so il give them a buzz and see if they are wrecking some more. Are they easy to fit, bolt straight on sort of thing?. Also been looking at removing the cat and fitting a downpipe aswell, are these useless without a full larger exhaust? Quite keen on it being on the quiet side, i know ya cant have it both ways !
  14. Hey guys, Just wondering if I can get some advice on adding some mild tuning that will give it a bit more off the mark without going down the major tune road. I know its an open ended question, but basically I have a NZ New Bugeye Wrx non STI (stock standard). I was going to go down just the handling track so I have gone out and bought some Tein Control Master Type Flex suspension (yet to be fitted) and carbon STI front strut brace, but just wondering if there is any reflashing of the ECU or easy mods that can get gains in performance. Cheers
  15. Actually got it wrong, mines a BE5 sedan. learn something everyday!!
  16. Well I got my 2000 BH5 5spd TT back in 2005 and all its just having its big birthday this week!!!! I was the first NZ owner and it was a fresh import with 70k on the clock, now its got 146k. up till now it has cost me; New Battery (changed this year) New Alternator Disc's skimmed Pads Airflow meter Low Idle sensor (borrowed off a wrecked STI WRX engine) So all in all not bad going for 6 years of driving!! towards the end of last year the wear n tear things started showing up! First the centre diff started binding really bad after medium to long trips, turning into a car park felt like the front wanted to rip itself off!! not nice at all!. The clutch was getting a little shuddery when letting off, esp when cold. and Ive had a engine light come on (which had turned out to be the knock sensor) and the car could only go about 40kph max until it decided to start to go!! (really interesting when pulling out onto busy roads !!) so that got a lil dangerous in the end and its been getting fixed this week. So this is what ive got done. New Exedy Sports Tuff heavy duty clutch kit New Flywheel (old one was buckled??) 2nd Reco'd gearbox, from a 2000 Legacy 40k old (turns out I did leave the Centre diff issue to long and the centre diff was not repairable. They tell me that the gearbox and centre diff are joined so cheapest option was to replace the gearbox. The old gearbox changed gear sweet, and felt good it was only the binding i was having an issue with. So i have a good gearbox with a bad centre diff for sale if anyone is interested ) Replace knock Sensor Skim Discs / replace pads Reset ECU Total Bill inc gst and fitted $2250.00 Well I thought id just show ya that they can be reliable, but they all need a birthday at some stage. Its been an awesome car so i didnt mind spending the money on it and its worth more to me than what i could sell it for (even though it cost me 19K when i first got).
  17. Mate that is the best news ive heard all day !!! that has just saved over a grand !! stoked !! Im gonna get it all done next week, cant wait to be able to park without the street looking at me !! haha Cheers mate
  18. Just trying to figure that out mate, yea my tyres are the same ( Dunlop Direzza ) and they wearing evenly front and back.
  19. Hey Boostin, cheers for all your help mate really appreciate it. I just spoke to a mechanic and he said that if my model is the plate type differential then they can take it out, pull it apart and re-do it like you showed in your pics and then I dont have to replace it with a new part like the sealed ones. Whats the easiest way to tell if mine the plate type? Ive tried googling the model and vin number but cant tell find anything any chance you can tell by the numbers below. Subaru Legacy B4 year 2000, Manual 5spd Model - BE5C48D Vin - BE5 064025 Cheers again mate.
  20. Cheers mate, I just found this post http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,8752.15.html The symptoms are all there huh!! so it looks like its gonna cost $1500.00 to fix bugger !! anyone know a good Sub mechanic on the north shore I can go to, reasonable rates. Gotta love this forum though, fiqured out what it was in 1 day, gold !!
  21. Yea I thought wheel bearings at first but ive had wheel bearings go on other cars ive owned and they make a real noise when they let go, and I cant hear a thing in a straight line or when its cold? have you had these symptoms when wheels bearings go? I thought it even may be an oil viscosity thing being to thin or something, just grasping at straws mate.
