Bugger it I might as well just rebuild the old engine, probably going to be easier lol.
EJ206 B4 engine for sale, 130,000km going sweet, complete with everything!
You say you had compression issues in your other threads, how did you get around this or what were your issues? I see the EJ206 has 9:1 and the EJ20G into the RS is 8.5:1. Is a ECU swap possible?
I've got a good running complete EJ20 here out of a Legacy B4 (EJ206 I believe?), and I'm wanting to put it into my Legacy RS-B which has a blown BEB. Got both engines out and sitting side by side, but I see intake manifold faces are different as well as sensor plugs etc. I was just going to swap over intake manifolds and looms but now seems this won't be possible.
I'm guessing Im going to have to take the heads off the RS-B block and put on the new engine etc? Or is there another way around this? (e.g. use new engines intake and replace just the loom?)
cheers in advance
I've had it happen before, I never thought it was a big-end lol didn't take long to figure out exhaust leak, if you under the car with it running it's fairly obvious.
Compression test when it was in the car would have given you some idea regarding melted piston. How many KM's has engine done? May as well rebuild it now it's out
There's no 'set spring' in a VF22, it's governed by a internal wastegate controlled by your ECU, unless that's been welded up and your running a external wastegate.
7psi will be the stock boost the Legacy came out of the factory with, not the VF22's 'stock' pressure (these came out on the early GC8 STi's and from memory run around 16psi stock).
Yep early GC8 model. I've managed to get my hands on the 2 x plates/brackets that go on the inside of the bumper, but how do the spotlight covers mount to these?
Can you only install spotlight covers over spotlights, not without them? Putting a standard bumper back on my V1 STi but don't have spotlights but have the spotlight covers and want to install them
All earths connected and has a earthing kit so should be no problems there.

is your ecu pluged in? any power going to it?
ECU hasn't been touched so yep, and no error codes either.
It fires better after its been primed a couple of times, makes me wonder if it is a fuel issue? How can I go about testing each injector?
Have just finished putting the engine back into my version 1 Sti. Having problems getting it to run though, its trying to fire but not enough to get going. Have double checked timing, has spark, plenty of fuel getting to injectors and AFM pugged in. Tried putting a bit of engine start around the intake to see if its due to lack of fuel but didn't make a difference.
Cam and crank sensors SHOULD be fine as engine was running before rebuild (cracked piston).
Any other ideas??
Does anyone know if all WRXs (both STi and standard WRX) came with oil/water coolers since production started? A V1 STi i brought from a mate doesn't have one, not sure whether its been removed or if the version 1's didn't have one at all.
Either way I'll probably be putting a external cooler on anyway, but would be good to know.
