  1. Yep its back off to the shop today and they going to see what part is failing this time..... I was much nicer to this gear box than the original one that was in the car when I got it and it never failed like these two. I'm wondering if they have been sitting around dry for a long time and then getting a hard work out on the track is showing the faults up quicker than normally would show?
  2. No shop said they replaced it with same coded box big times and no idea on the fluid. But they serviced my old one last year and was fine.
  3. Ruapuna set my fastest lap time of 1.44. It’s a 98 forester with 193kw at the wheels. The original gear box did 186000km and was mint till friend blew second gear with a dumb down shift. Then went into a shop to get a second hand box put in with matching gear box codes. The first one started to die after 120km with the front bearings in diff failing and this one sounds like the same noise only just started to make it in 3rd and 4th and only when throttle applied. Clutch is just a standard replacement so that would go before gears hopefully. Both gear boxes have come second had unknown kms from their place they get them from. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Yeah as I said the original box was excellent and did 185000km of good use. These have both failed the same way. We're installed by a company and they got both boxes from a supplier
  5. It is on a track and today I took more care than I normally do when changing to make sure I was careful(not engine braking like I used to and just using the brakes). when the first gear box got put in I got them to check mounts and bushes and replace as required. The original gear box never had this issue, was all good till mate smashed second gear into pieces. This is now becoming a pain in the Ass
  6. Bit more than what I want to speed as would mean changing diffs and hubs as well. At least the box has a warrenty
  7. Another track day and another gear box...... this is the second, second hand gearbox I have had and this one is making the same noise as the first after 100kms. When the throttle applied and in 3/4/5 gear you can hear a whine. Pretty sure its the front diff bearings like the last one. anyone had this problem before or know what the best way to go from here would be?
  8. Found out why second gear don’t work no more! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Dam they are tidy lookin! Wish I knew about these before hand Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I didn't do it to fit brembo I did it to fit the 2 pot brakes. So no problem with that
  11. i got mine from kartboy since no one had them in NZ
  12. 200kg heavier than My 98 Forester! That however has nothing left in it eexcept 2 front seats and the dash. be lighter if i go tthe massive sun roof out of it too
  13. The WRX is no longer a small car. This looks like it's bigger than my Legacy station wagon!!
  14. Yeah we did see you. Thought you were part of it till didn't see you stop. Next time you need to come along. We only had one version 3 legacy there
  15. Yeah put the southern side we sure were
  16. This is on today meeting up at 1pm out at Dunns crossing road in rolleston
  17. I got a gear box with no second so you could take that and mash them together and be sweet aye!!!
  18. Also make sure the socket is fully locked to the nut. Don’t want to strip them. That just make the day a whole lot worse [emoji23] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. HELL yes to that. If they never been touched they are usually solid and require some good swinging room!
  20. Listening too this after a second hand gear box got installed. Gear box part sounds mint. Think centre diff maybe. Anyone else heard this. Only with power on otherwise smooth and quiet
  21. If anyone is bored christchurch track days is on at Ruapuna today. I'm out with the forester and there is a few other subies as well
  22. Picked up the forester after getting a second hand gearbox installed with new clutch and bushes. So nice to drive now having second gear back again Looking forward to Ruapuna next weekend
