where are you getting your info from? ive only ever heard of it killing o2 sensors

one little piece of info has just been made aparent to me... is it possible the noise that was heard wasnt detonation, but infact a resonable sized hole halfway down the exhaust??? aparently that, coupled with a tired turbo and wastegate can make a similar sound... thoughts?

if its only been overheated then im guessing its just suffering a split head gasket... replace that, clean it up, new hoses, new oil and water n go for gold

i always pre fill the filter and the oil light never comes on on first start up... once shes started oil light is out...

its something ive always been told to do... if you fill the filter then fill the block you dont have to wait so long for it all the fill up

yup, fill it, wait for the oil to settle and air to bubble up and top it up again... repeat a few times then screw on... put the plug back in and fill eninge up...

And it only took 4 pages to convince him!! didnt take that long... was just loking at all the alturnitives (sp?)...

yeah that would be great mate... was thinking last night... the last owner said and i quote... so assuming they didnt care about the car the probibly never changed the fuel filter eather... 150,000khs with crap fuel could be the reason for a buggered filter? and/or pump???

hey im just going on what people like Stu Webber and the like are telling me.. while trying to keep what you guys are telling me in mind too...

have talked to a few people, first thing im going to do is invest in a "KnockLINK" aparently these are very good at detection det. next on the list is a new fuel filter and pump... probibly a walbro 500HP on, then will gingerly hit the track and push the limites untill i find exactly where its detonating... aparently this is the easiest way of sorting it and as i cant hear the det while driving the LED display of the "knockLINK" will help me... thoughts?
