  1. Gave mine a bit of a wipe down today. Here's a couple for consideration... Originals emailed incase you want them.
  2. And that was a crappy winter evening! Bring on the summer! 8)
  3. I've measured it with the small standard V2 scoop, and with the much larger custom. Serious, it makes albeit a small difference, which probably has not much effect for me nanna'ing about the streets, but I expect that couple of degrees would make a difference to a serious track runner. All the cool air rushes over the manifold and back over the turbo / down pipe. Never measured without a scoop though. Sounds like something to try....
  4. Have air intake temp gauge - it's cooler, end of story......
  5. ...beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc! ;D
  6. Air intake is cooler with the scoop putting cold air on the manifold. Even cooler with a bigger scoop!
  7. Mmm, that's an interesting thought, thanks. I upgraded to a V8 interior a couple of years ago and haven't changed it since so that shouldn't be it as it didn't come out for Megameet 09(which is the signature photo). However, I did bring passengers and quite a bit of gear back from the track day that I didn't take up...... The fault seems to have been intermittent since then... Will check that out, thanks. I can actually make the light come on at will now. Right hand down, power on (heavier than norma!l), ABS light comes on. If I nanna around (which is normal!! ), the light doesn't come on.
  8. I finally have an answer to this (and a bit of ruined carpet under the drivers seat!). My 1996 Version 2 definitely has the Diagnostic Link Connector No 24 under the dash. When I earth it to the steering column, it gives me the following codes on the ABS light (with what I believe the codes actually mean):- 11 - Start Code 27 - Abnormal ABS Sensor, open circuit or voltage too high; rear left ABS sensor 28 - Abnormal ABS Sensor signal, rear left ABS sensor 25 - Abnormal ABS Sensor, open circuit or voltage too high; rear right ABS sensor Now I'll take it to someone who can help me fix them!! Any guidence on the above problems will be gratefully received.
  9. It looks like the ABS ECU version with the flashing LED may have only been produced until 1995. I believe there were 2 different MY's of V2, Sept 94 - August 95, and Sept 95 - August 96. It's possible that the second batch had the new ABS? Don't know, just guessing. Hope to finish this saga off soon (then comes the repairs of course!).
  10. It looks as though my 1996 V2 may have the newer version ABS system. Using the great link above (Checking ABS Codes - BG5) I THINK I may have a Diagnostic Link Connector No 24 under the dash. Does this connector sound right for V3/4 Impreza's?
  11. OK, thanks for getting back to me - but I seem to have a sealed box with no window. And I've cut the carpet to have a good look at the ECU! Even took the carpet out around the drivers door frame and still can't see an LED. Oh well, might be seat out, carpet back, and lid off ECU box next then.... There's been a few mongrel things with my car with it being virtually the last V2. What type of connector should I look for under the dash for a V3 set up!! (Serious, it won't be the only thing V3 on it!!). Thanks again boostin!
  12. Next stupid question - please can you tell me where the LED is on the box?!? : ABS Light on, ignition running, seat forward (carpet flap lifted - then carpet appropriately munted in frustration so I can see all of the box!) and all I see is a sealed ECU unit!! Many thanks in advance boostin!!
  13. Sweet, thanks very much!! ....and here's me thinking that only my Amp was under the driver's seat!! : Will post the result up in case someone else has the misfortune.
  14. My ABS light is coming on intermittently and I'm wondering if any of you guys can help? (It's a Version 2 by the way). When you start the car, the ABS light shows (and I'm assuming does all it's checks), then goes out, so I assume it thinks all is okay. Randomly though, the ABS light will come back on, and stay on. Sometimes it doesn't. The rotors have been off today and the brake system has had a good clean up. There's no issues with the hubs etc and the ABS itself works fine so I'm wondering if this is electrical. Is it a dodgy sensor or a dodgy wire or something? And if so, what can I do about it? To make things harder I'm running a Link and can't retrieve the fault codes from the ECU. Thanks for the idea of disconnecting the ABS light - but no thanks!! ;D
  15. If it won't start "sometimes" , and the engine just turns over on the starter motor, could well be the crank angle sensor. They pack in all the time, I'm one of probably a hundred on here that will have replaced that at some time! Cheap and easy to replace if that's what it is though.
  16. Got round to putting up a couple of pics eventually! Hope the Rexnet sign doesn't offend too many people... :
  17. Only done just over 50000kms in mine since import in 2003!!
  18. I'd still love to know who the genius was that said it's a great idea for children to have a driving licence at 15..... ??? Can't move for the amount of smart, developed nations that decided to follow this. If you still insist on letting the children drive, deny anything over 1000cc until 3 years (insured / proven) driving experience; and no turbos, superchargers, over 4 cylinders etc until aged 25 AND with appropriate (insured / proven) driving experience. Break the rules - it's a porridge fixed penalty. And when you know you've got to have your own insurance to be legal, it hurts.
  19. Hi Darren, I've got a CD here with about 100 photos taken by Shale on my camera. I can hand it over in town or mail you a copy bro. Just let me know (although I won't be able to reply until after ANZAC day - overseas again....!).
  20. I got whacked by a K band on the motorway just North of Welly (but was around 100kph anyway). It set the radar off at full power (from short distance) instantly, no early warning at all. I didn't even see the cop, think I'd just passed him hiding at the side of the motorway.
  21. Stirring words of support from the President bro, that must make you feel heaps better.... :-\
  22. ...apart from the 16 sets of tyres used so far of course!! ;D
  23. And, if like me, you'd like to blame someone else if it goes wrong, it's approx $200 to get it done properly by a mechanic with genuine Subaru parts.
  24. As received from BP today following my snotagram sent yesterday:- "......Thanks for your email. We are experiencing stock issues with BP Ultimate at the moment which has effected the majority of BP Ultimate stores in the North Island. BP Ultimate is imported into New Zealand from Kwinana Refinery in Australia and unfortunately there having been some shipping delays with our latest load of product which has caused the stock issues. We have no plans to withdraw BP Ultimate from the New Zealand market. Our shipment will be arriving into Seaview Terminal tomorrow and will start being distributed to stores on Thursday 26th February......." I'll call the dogs off for now then....
