  1. Heading to work the other morning, the CEL came on as I first turned on the car and remained on for approx 1 minute before going out again and staying out for the remainder of the trip, forgot about it until it popped up again yesterday. Coinciding with the CEL the engine felt very sluggish and a bit jerky, so I figured it would probably be a knock sensor issue retarding the timing and cutting boost. Checked the ecu for codes this morning and sure enough code 22 - knock sensor. Does the ecu flag a CEL when det is picked or is it normally just when the the sensor is starting to fail? Can replace the sensor easily enough myself if that\'s the problem... Car in question 1999 Legacy B4 TT run on BP98 95% of the time.
  2. Had a friend buy a Toyota levin (1.5) for 2.8k, put 20,000 ks on it then sold it to a dealer for 3.5k! Cant see that happening very often though
  3. My best was $1.06/l. Pretty sweet getting a tank of gas for half price!
  4. If the TT came fitted to EJ25 then it would be a different story.. Both a supra and GTR have a big displacement advantage.
  5. Washed it. Found one of my HID bulbs was blown, so replaced both with 6000k units. Forced upgrade

Thats a pretty big generalisation. Theres no Wingers in Nelson anyway.... Never really been a fan of Nelson Bays Subaru though, never really interested in helping out on small things. Nathan (I think?) is pretty helpful though and is pretty clued up when it comes to Subarus.
  7. 3\'\' is pretty normal. I have 2.5\'\' turbo back to 3\'\' axle back
  8. Subaru recognised the problem and actually built in a manual override on it. Cant remember the method as ive never done it, but a google search should yield some answers.
  9. Yes optional STi upgrade spring for BE5. I have a set in my B4, gives a nice drop. About 25-30mm is what the catalog states from memory.
  10. VF27 is BB and 26 is thrust bearing from memory. OP what revision is your B4?
  11. +1 on boost gauge to see what its doing. Have you tried entering the car into diagnostic mode via the green plugs? Have you checked to see if the system is holding vacuum?
  12. Yup sounds like it. Check all the hoses for leaks, some get pretty brittle over time and can break if tampered with.
  13. Real concept shots. http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1083242_2013-subaru-wrx-concept-new-york-auto-show-live-shots#100423944
  14. This modification has nothing to with peak power (6500 rpm twin stage) its more about response on the primary stage.
  15. Nothing engine wise. Factory LSD was the biggest thing from memory, along with a few minor suspension tweaks. Have a search of the forum, I remember this topic being discussed before.
  16. You probably have a vac leak somewhere in the system. All it takes is a leak hose #1 and you will have no boost at all, as it that controls the secondary control valve (which seals the system during primary boost). To test if hose #1 is holding vacuum, carefully pull the hose of the valve actuator underneath the IC. It should hiss the and the valve should move when you remove. If it doesn\'t then you have a problem.
  17. Most will probably have just had the wire cut. If you look in the boot compartment where the jack lives, you can see the actuator. Theres probably a way of disconnecting from there. As for turbo/spool issues thats more an issue with replacing the entire exhaust, rather than just the rear muffler.Changing the rear box will give you the sound you drsire.
  18. The 93-96 TT models (BG5A) featured the EJ20H (260hp) in both auto and manual. Some were fitted with bilsteins most weren\'t. I don\'t think their was an official GT-B model. In 96 came the facelifted model (BG5B) which received a new look front bumper, projector headlights, 17\'\' alloys, tinted tail lights, better interior etc. The top of the line models fitted with bilsteins were called the GTB. The manual version of the GTB received the new EJ20R motor, the first Legacy to reach the Japanese maximum output of 276hp (206kw). The auto models of the new GTB continued with the older EJ20H motor right through until the end of the production the the BG series. The Limited model featured a unique front bumper and large spot lights. Their maybe other unique parts added but knowledge isn\'t the best on this model. Reuben may be able to shed some light on this. Hope that helps.
  19. As wrong as it is the outback kit just suits the lowered stance so well.. ;D
  20. Last week... Drove it 1600 kms from Hamilton to Nelson via Coromandel>Tauranga>Gisborne>Napier>Welly ..... Fell in love with the car all over again! Today did an oil change after work on the Legacy, washed the Passat and purchased a new set of forged Rays Engineering wheels.
  21. Are you the person selling a pair on TM? Just had a look at the auction and the compressor blades look like ones from an older turbo. What is scribed onto the compressor cover?
  22. Id been toying with the idea for a while, but im very fussy over the finished look with things like that.. But the fitment to the 3rd gen dash is perfect!
  23. VF33 has a larger compressor inlet. Other than that everything is the same. Oh and im guessing your car has a wastegate on the secondary? The vac lines for that will need to be blocked too.
  24. As with all comments above, STi have any accessory catalog in which you can purchase upgrade parts such as pedals, strut braces, boost gauges, genome exhausts etc. Some were added upon sale of the new car by dealers, many have since had parts added.
