  1. YES YES YES they are necessary. I'm on the third engine in my GTB.

    Air intake

Snorkelectomy didn't seem to make any difference performance wise on mine when I did it. It did make it slightly louder though. A snorkelectomy involves removing the intake resonator inside the right front guard.

    Air intake

Don't do it. Just put a nice new Subaru genuine air filter in there.
  4. Good flat mate! A Hybrid as in one like this one? http://www.gofastbits.com/index.php?parentid=guides&option=guides&sub_option=bovs&sub_sub_option=1003 If so you will need an adaptor.
  5. It certainly does go off. Left my bike sitting for about 18 months, it would only run to about 1500rpm until the fresh fuel came through. I was suprised it started actually.
  6. Look what I found using GOOGLE! http://www.gofastbits.com/index.php?parentid=guides&option=guides
  7. Looks like something that's just waiting to break.
  8. Going from the thread title I was going to suggest labia. Have you tried a wreckers?
  9. Try replacing the LED first. You can source ultra-bright blues/whites/reds (whatever you're after) from Jaycar Electronics. If its too bright, current limit it with a resistor. I would imagine the LED is not driven straight off the microprocessor inside the AVS alarm unit, but rather switched through a transistor. Can't say for sure (have never opened an AVS box up before), but if this is the case you may need to have this part replaced. That's probably an AVS return to manufacturer job I would imagine - as touching the internals would most likely void your warranty. But try the striaght LED replace first off - that might hopefully do the trick. Yeah I've actually checked and there is no voltage coming out of the unit to the LED. Used one of those multi meter devices. So I'm assuming it's something internal.
  10. Have you removed the trim from around the gear shift lever?
  11. If some genius shorted the LED on their alarm, what would need replacing? :-[
  12. I wouldn't have a clue what my insurance costs. My parents have it all included with the farm and machinery etc.
  13. I haven't buckled the rims on my GTB. And on my old 250T with 15's I bent two beyond repair.
  14. But that is the passengers side! ;D For most of us anyway.
  15. Ahh ok. Makes sense if I apply a little though to it!
  16. You broked it. Oil would have leaked from somewhere on to something hot and smoked. So you stopped. Good idea. But then you started it again. Bad idea.I'm guessing the second time it stopped would have been because there was no oil left. Your engine is most probably feeling like a hooker at the end of a long night after running out of lube. ****ed.
  17. http://www.stuff.co.nz/oddstuff/2458802/Nana-leaves-boy-racers-gasping Granny racer? Openly admitting to street racing. And yet it is portrayed as being a fun thing to do with your grand kids in the back.
  18. I'll have a random guess at a turbo seal. Does it still run? Any funny noises? Did the check engine light come on and if so have you checked the code?
  19. Becca - contacted by 3News. Hmmm, hope you didn't jet lagged on that ego trip.
  20. Sounds like you're going to sell tickets Ray!
  21. Well at least if it is still there you'll know it wasn't the box! ;D
