  1. I got under the car and repaired it like a true bogan: slip a screwdriver between the bent seam and car and bent partially upright grip the seam with a pair of vice grips and straighten vertically paint with undercoat paint with grey house paint lying around It wasn't pretty, and was hard work, but it passed muster.
  2. About 2-3 years between front-left bearing changes. I can live with that. You are lucky then. You need to do more ccts around Manfield. That's the killer.
  3. Camber bolts. And yes, it amplifies the bearing wear-out. And also, I have to swap the tyres over on the rims after 18 months to stop the inside tyre wearing out. But, by crikey, it helps the cornering.
  4. I get a ginormous BANG from the rear diff when I take off a bit briskly, or get a series of large knockings when the 'traction control' ie rear tyres activate during a slightly less than fully brisk take-off. The diff is hitting the underbody.
  5. I've had a different experience with maclennans. Have got 3 degrees of negative camber on front, done quite a few track days over time, had the front left wheel bearing changed 3x, and back left wheel bearing changed 1x. Rear is about 1 degree negative camber. The bearings seem to last a longish time.
  6. I can tell you that my *rear* GC8 STI has a larger wheel bearing than a std GC8. But that is all I can tell you  I think the front bearing is std.
  7. Scored 2 MAF sensors at Wingate pickapart. Probably overkill but I've got 2 cars with K+N panel filters so who knows?
  8. 'K' for Kompressor is the Merc version, and gives it a 'cache' value.
  9. Haven't found any damp in the car yet. Will keep looking. Ran the engine up to temperature with the radiator cap off, and a clear hose poking up from there, to see if I could see any bubbles coming up through the water from the head. Couldn't see anything.
  10. Would that make the oil look muddy etc or not make any diff? because the oil looks fine. Changed it previous weekend and it was black like nomral.
  11. I see you're in Raetihi. Would be a good excuse to drive up the paraparas to see you but I'll have to get it pressure tested down here in Wellytown. It's a 94 TT, so there's the added complication of water pipes going to the turbos.
  12. My legacy is using water. The overflow keeps going empty. I cannot see any water lying around the engine so am guessing (without proof) that once the engine heats up, there is a high-pressure leeak somewhere. Chances are, this car has never had all its hose replaced. Are there any hoses that should be replaced first?
  13. I take off the lid to the brake reservoir, and push a brake piston thingy back, then look at the increased level of brake reservoir, and push another brake piston thingy back. At some stage, I normally have to remove some fluid from the reservoir with a dirty great syringe bought from the chemist for exactly this job. You do not need to release pressure with brake nipple, the fluid magically finds its way up into the reservoir. And over the top if you don't remove some. However, due to some track activities that the car participates in, I gnerally change brake fluid at the same time, since the car is already on jack stands and brakes exposed for bleeding. Unless of course I'm in a hurry.

Hmmm, you don't want to be hitting rev limiter or changing gear in a corner...
  15. Be good in a motorkhana 8 grand launches and handbrake turns and scandinavian flicks on full throttle mmmmmmm
  16. Koom I would also be very interested, if you're making up a batch.
  17. Manfield - 1:21.53 HCCC track day 2008 Taupo Track 2 - 1:22.82 MM 2009 Taupo Track 4 - 1:54.65 MM 2009 Pukekohe - 1:15 Easter 2006
  18. Thanks. Will tie it and not worry.
  19. The manufacturer had the bolted connections bolted straight onto the fuel pump viz I've swapped it out for a Walbro, and now there's 2 floating bolted connections. The +ve bolted connection will be insulated by the original rubber boot. I'm worried that the -ve connection is floating when it didn't used to be, and wondering whether it's a problem when it hits the large bracket?
