  1. Hey JoshYes it reads speed live. Jared's quite right - if you're speedo's reading wrong then so will the speedmeter. Uses the same speed wire. You would have to be a bit of an electrical wizz to change the speedo pulses ie with PIC or PLC or something. Got any old Omron PLC's lying around? It's possible but whether you would want to spend the time or not to make it is the question. Al
  2. I have a Pivot speed meter you can have for a good price if you're interested. $50. It inserts in the speed wire and removes cut. Also provides digital speed reading and 0-100m 0-200m 0-400m times. It works well. Got up to 218kph on Pukekohe, and speed meter kept memory of highest attained speed for after the event. Recently removed from my car as no longer required.
  3. Look on the front inside cover of the HCCC magazine. You'll see A-grade scrutineers listed there. You should use them as first preference. Otherwise I can do it, am a standard scrutineer and will help you if you're stuck.

  6. The fuzzy one's just needed higher-resolution than HD, that's all It shows up cruelly on a glossy printed page. And it's nothing to worry about - there's no way there'll be 12x professional quality photos available for a club-level magazine. I'd still submit all those photos because I want to see everyone else's great shots.
  7. My 93 legacy's done 363,000 ks and never done a BEB. It's so not the bearing's fault. Try regular maintenance, good oil, full oil levels. Kind thoughts and attention to the car.
  8. The guys who organise these things put in a huge amount of work. Then some self-appointed keyboard warrior sees fit to trash all their hard work. Get a life or gtfo

    towing a car trailer

I towed a Corolla on an unbraked trailer with a BG Legacy wagon for 3 years. It's doable, acceleration excellent, remember that braking will be twice as bad/slow ie as if you're braking with spongy brakes. For corners you will get large oversteer if you enter too fast, so make sure you slow early for corner and drive smoothly into each one at about 80ks. Um, less if signposted as less, say 20ks less than signposted. Speed limit is fine on straights.
  10. Also think about replacing the starter motor. It could be old and slow.
  11. Went up last week and scored a new paper air filter for $5. Cheap is good
  12. You could call it the Subaru DVK. Joker will have to buy one
  13. So... pod filter in engine bay sucks in warm air, then front mount cools air down to near ambient. 3 ticks - induction noise from pod filter frount mount street creed fuel economy! I guess he'll be voting for the green party ???
  14. Mine came with different electrical plugs so I butchered them all (in a good way).
  15. Is that the escape velocity necessary from pitchfork-carrying locals?
  16. I just use a large ring spanner and push the pads back levering off the brake disk
  17. You can get a Pivot Speedmeter that inserts into the speed reading wire between the speedo and ecu.
  18. No looky under bonnet - just many many outside shots
  19. The uprated MRT top mount is over $1100 AUD and looks hugely overpriced. Will be very interested in how you go.
  20. I've got the same problem too. It's been like that since a long time ago when I may have got the clutch assy really hot. An external spring? I might be able to fix it myself. Thanks guys.
  21. Similar but with different car - uprated my Charade mounts to home-made solid engine mounts. It was 10x (well maybe 5x) easier to change gears under hard acceleration. Sometimes you had to move gear lever 1/2 way to new gear position then wait quite a while for the gears to mesh and the gearbox to move in the right direction into the gear levers request.
