Im starting to think about different ideas for a rebuild on my v2 sti ra. It has now done just over 190,000km so everything is starting to get a bit tired.
One option ive been looking at is buying a PBMS forged block like the one below
Or the other option is just a standard rebuild with STI bits which i havn't yet priced up.
Id like your thoughts on how far i should go, power wise i would like around 300-350hp nothing huge. I'm more after getting some reliability so i can do some track days and drag days, maybe the odd sealed hill climb as well.
I will be getting a baffled sump to start with, is there anything else that needs to be done to prevent bearing failure?
Any other ideas would be great, i will be doing most of the work myself apart from the machining which i have a couple of mates that can do that which will cut cost.
As for the bolt on bits im hoping the tdo5 will be up to the task? Would like to stay away from a front mount and just upgrade the top mount if possible, unless you think i may run into issue, but i have herd of some cars making good power with a top mount so hopefully it should be ok.
As far as injectors is it worth while upgrading to the yellow injectors? Also look at upgrading the fuel pump as well maybe a walbro?
Any other ideas would be great.
