  5. I think my car has just done that today. Turbo has gotten considerably louder after coming home today. Sounds like bearing is failing. I do a complete oil change every 5k but it has done 200k, sooo good innings I thought. Anyone got a spare vf24??

  7. I have owned my ver 4 coupe for 5 years now to the week and I have had nothing but enjoyment out of it. If you keep up on the services and general maintainence these cars are reliable as. The car can definatly bite ya if you're not used to the dccd and limited slip but its a great car to drive. My engine is still standard as subaru made it but it has plenty of poke to keep a smile on my dial ;D Mine is also for sale too ;)
  8. Smoothed and Polished up my other front alloy arm 2nite. Just gotta wait till the long weekend now before the big fit up with my new braided brake lines, 320mm front discs, sti rear link and trailing arms, rear subframe, front alloy arms That should get the 22 tracking straight and true again ;D

  11. yeah cheers will do i might have to try find the zip things that pull the headunit out of the pocket first, is a sony xplod, might see if ripco sell them or i guess ebay/tardme will have em, might check the earthing on the amp aswell he may not have scraped the paint back when he earthed it in the boot, or may have come loose since i moved the amp location may end up getting someone to tidy it all up anyway and have a look at it, was a pretty jammy looking job by the previous owner of the car My mate had the same problem in his B4 and we narrowed it down to cheap arse rca leads, changed them over with another set and hey presto the whine was gone!
  12. Ahh yes those plastic clips are fun. I had fun with them when I removed my monstrosity of a box too
  13. Installed new plugs on saturday, and going by the old plugs it was a well deserved gift to my car. No more slight miss, peppier, and smoother idle. Also exhaust crackles a heap more haha. Finally I can hit warp speed nine again ;D
  14. Bought new candles for the R. Platinum ones at 20 each, bargain! Also picked up my front lower alloy arm, contemplated finishing off smoothing and polishing it then put it back down again lol Should also have some sti lateral arms turning up for me on thurs too
  15. considering I reckon I need new plugs I still get over 500 on open road with some urgent overtaking manouvres, and in town it's round 400. Thats my 97 sti R, standard motor with 2.5" exhaust.
  16. Nice work there dude. U can tell theres been quite a fair few hours spent hunched over that engine bay working on it. Wish I had the time to pay mine the same attention haha,
  17. Just checked vin plate, and 22b is deff ej22g. I know the 22b has a closed deck block but what other models got the closed or semi closed blocks?
  18. Anyone know what type of rims are on the rex in the second photo? I like the look of them

  21. I went and had a look at car last nite and found the speakers are cerwin vega 6.5" vega 2650 Found some specs, crossovers have a 12db octave range and speakers operate at 60hz-20khz, 80w RMS, sensitivity at 88db.
  22. Thanks guys. Car is hibernating from the snow in storage at mo but I'll note the model numbers down next time I drag it out seeing as tho I've lost the bit of paper I wrote the numbers down last time. I'll try and look at the crossover boxes from the fronts an see if they have the freq range on them somewhere.
  23. I was half thinking that would be the case, just wasn't completely sure. Just saves me having to take the speakers out which is all in a custom tray install
