  1. Considering Mine's been cut(don't know when must've been a while ago) will it affect performance at all? what are the negatives of this? or is it like that Xforce muffler where it just opens and closes type deal?
  2. Mines been cut there... At least now I now what it does
  3. My advise; Get a friend that reads and understands japanese.;D
  4. If it is the case, could you then not disconnect the receiver/sender for the satellite updates? EDIT: It's probably all just one wiring junction so, snipping would be required, but knowledge of the specific cable would then be required.
  5. I'm epic, and mad, this is why. BUT- the reason I like this car is because it's got the cool trim, and 5 speed manual. and the only rice it'll ever be allowed, a single Xbox sticker that was already on the tail gate. :
  6. That's why the upgrade to 2.2 But, the 2 litre (unless sold) would be like a spare tyre except, obviously not (like the old leone's on top of the good ol' EA82) but in the shed. Being cleaned up.
  7. I have no problems with the engine, Just don't like the turbs, and With having a new engine, When I want to Replace things with one engine, I can just do a full clean up, whilst swapping the other engine in, so never having to have a non-running car. not so mad now ae? Without the turbs, it means both engines will be fine running in the car, and so will have no problems... theoretically.
  8. Cheers for that, Will look up some of that stuff, cheers. Now begins the research....
  9. I have a honda accord DOHC Vtec to parts out to get cash if anyone wants honda parts(yeah right). In the long run, It'd be worth it, BUT- I was asking if anyone had any tips that could help WITH the change, if there are any kinks in the process, not people telling me I should sell the parts/car . I appreciate the opinions guys
  10. Wiring isn't a problem ;D, I'm not likely to sell the car though no one would want it in it's current state, was a victim of break-in, and steal head unit etc. etc. and the cop never filed the report, so The guy who owned it just gave it to my dad as it blew up, so we got another 2L engine to replace and put that in, but wasn't quite runnig right, then we had to move from our old place it had an epic shed with a pit and a hoist to in town where we can't get much done, has been sitting a bit, I'm slowly getting rid of the mould, the people who broke into it (in hanmer) with a hammer : first tried smashing through the windscreen (what geniuses) then decided to smash through the passenger window... and take the heater, and sterio head unit, along with some trim.... loverly.. Other than conversion, things needed: Radiator, find out problem with what current engine is doing(probably going to pull it apart, and clean every bell and whistle, then put it back together) windscreen, passenger window, head unit and AC/heater unit. Edit:to put the rubbers back onto the 17" stock mags, and a battery, are also needed... have two pod filters, a blue and a red, wanna help me decide which one to put on? Though technically isn't much of a conversion, as it's still the EJ model engine.... everything but 4.3(a) *ramble end*
  11. This thing called I like my engines to stay in one piece Also Insurance will bea whole lot less without it. I'd say that an extra 200cc is preferable to two turbos that build compression...in a combustion engine....
  12. Okay, Have a '98 BH5 legacy, 2 litre twin turbo. As my mum killed my last car(her fault, she bought a honda, I didn't even get to drive it much, but it was a peice), we were basically given this car, just a few things and it'll be road legal. wanting to upgrade to a 2.2 non turbo, similar to the setup my dads 94 brighton has. Wondering if there are any tricks with electrics/computer, or anything. If anyone has expertise in this area, would be glad for a bit of help. cheers.
  13. Yeah, though I do believe Subaru need to go back to older style cars, I've seen some of the newer legacies, and they are hideous tbh.
  14. How can I get some panels like that? You know the clear ones, that let me see the engine?
  15. C-C-Combo! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=372480622 This sweet beuty is in mint condition, damn I hate having no money....
  16. I broke my collar bone, ACC are useless, Am still at school, and can't seem to find any down south atm... Wait till the Uni students need money and start selling theirs...
  17. Don't let women reverse, unless you are 100% sure they know how to use their mirrors. Okay, we were in the Honda(I know i know) going from murchison to nelson for a doctors appointment, the car was overheating(It has a F@#%ed Head), and so we turned around at some roadworks. We pulled in at a picnic stop, Under the trees, and then mum reversed without looking at her mirrors (letalone over her shoulder) and BAM! picnic table, out of no where, rear bumper mushed up. Lesson learned: Once I get my subie, my mum is not driving it.
  18. Westport to Murchison, Providing you don't come accross any campervans on some of the one lane parts, it's actually quite a nice road.
  19. I have a friend whose Terrano was stolen right from outside his place in the middle of the night, It didn't help he left the keys in the ignition.... I'm not sure if any of you have heard of murchison, but that's where it is, and who would want to steal something from here? retards, though insurance is always a good backup Edit: it had about 2k worth of speakers,1k of amp, his wallet, Neons and his Ipod...
  20. Sorry about the dreaded double post, but, This was called for. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Specialist-cars/Competition-cars/auction-359380127.htm
  21. Why Not A folding Hold/lock system, where You open the bonnet, It unfolds as you lift the bonnet and locks into place, Then when you want to close it, you press down the button, move the locker or what ever, fold it down , and you'll be fine. Just a thought. Edit:Just thinking some more, Then realised this would probably minimise the workspace that one would have for under the bonnet, when it's open. Silly me That is why one uses gas struts no? to allow ease of open, and So you have more space to move around when the bonnet is open. I remember A Toyota Windom a while back My dad and I were doing some work on had some pretty powerful gas struts for the bonnet, Have a look into them, As they held Up a rather Heavy bonnet quite well. Extra Edit: More realising, that the folding lock system may provide for more space (than the regular lift arm) If It were placed a little farther backwards (towards the windscreen) Though may cause nuiscance when closing bonnet, due to the need for manual deactivation, by hand.
  22. yea, I though so, i couldn't see the second lever, or that epic orange button on the gear stick. 1000 would really be pushing it, It won't sell for the price he has on it now, no way.
  23. Me too, I e-mailed him i think it was last tuesday, No reply. It's false advertising. I'd not pay that much for it, I mean the cars in pretty good nick (from what I can see in the photos) I think the most I'd pay would be $600, and that's pushing it really. My dad once got a GL in a little bit worse condition than that, It was completely road legal, for $100.00 Though he sold it a while ago, And I just haven't seen any sedan GL's since.
