  1. Parked up on the boat ramp last night for non-tarmac photos. Maneuvering...go figure! Having to launch to get up the hill in reverse...epic win. *doesn't say anything about getting stuck at Muriwai though... :-X*
  2. SO GLAD I don't have anything with an STi engine, so when I come and lurk with you guys I can sneak a bit of 95 + booster into either of the POS I take down ;D [/england england aiee] Guess that's where cans will come in handy; emergencies! 7km is a long way to push.
  3. It's wise to have different subsections of the board moderated by different people. it gives THEM the freedom to relax in other areas without having to play poe-poe all the time. AND it leaves people to the areas their skills are most useful. Is it too late to throw in a suggestion? I've got an unusual one. Lmao...
  4. Pity there's so little Mobil in Welly :-[
  5. That's why I resize to 640x480...good for viewing, not for printing. I have 7.2 megapixels to throw around, but that stays on the HDD and goes to those whose car I shot
  6. Shouldn't there be a mandatory rant about bewbs and geekery to get into bash? ;D
  7. On that very good point... IMO some of the 'older' ClubSUB members, even some that rub others up the wrong way sometimes, would make fine mods. They've contributed plenty over the years and from past experience, these sorts of people step up to the newfound responsibility really well. Namely for the tech sections and anti-flaming measures ;D
  8. Nah, that doesn't happen ;D The only time a post has been removed was when someone said things a fair bit worse than 'go have a cry' Party rages on.
  9. Someone dial 911 and get the WAAAAAAAAAAAAMBULANCE! Like they say with the CCTV cameras in town, the red light cameras, and road rules...if you don't do anything wrong why are you having piles? It's for the general, non-misbehaving user's benefit that such measues (LIKE IN USE ON MANY FORUMS, kthx) are in place. People having an epileptic over it are clearly in fear of retribution themselves This is nothing unusual on teh internets. This is nothing that ClubSUB doesn't need. This is not a bad thing. Ennk... (ooh and Yvonne...only a matter of time before I'm on there and special with you with some of the crap I spout ;D)
  10. SubieClub has a stars-for-good-people system. Lol. If they post good stuff, you can give them a star ranking...they slowly work their way up to 5 for being helpful with tech etc. A bit wanky but also a good indication for new members etc...if someone with no stars answers a tech question, then yeah...just an average user. If someone with many tech stars answers...yeah, probably knows what they're talking about ;D
  11. There is wealth to your situation..You need to think outside the box.. here my man, visualization is needed... think MULA and how to get it. Imagine the suck and epic fail if they decide to climb to one side of the fence. Where you're not at. :-\
  12. WHOA...there are two 1998 GTB-owning Reubens on here now
  13. Awesome idea in addition to the area-specific ones ;D APPROVE! Name: Amz Age: 22 (shoosh, I know I'm just a bubba) Location: JAFAville Occupation: Graphic Designer (ME TOOOO!!) Subarus: (HAD) 1990 Legacy GT-Limited wagon, cherry black (RIP - victim of car cancer). (HAVE) 1990 Legacy GT wagon, inherited most of black wagon. 1998 Impreza HX20s sedan dressed in STi drag ;D Length of Subaru Ownership: 3yrs+ Other interesting facts: I love to paint. I love to cook. I'd love to learn to dance But I wouldn't be caught DEAD in a skirt or dress!
  14. +2 on Highbrook Fast, thorough, accurate, bloody good people. Alex is pure awesome
  15. Damn. I'll have to find the links and repost 'em for ya.
  16. Yeah prevention is probably even more interesting eh...
  17. I'm sure we'll be enlightened at some point :
  18. I can't believe I'm NOT in the BEB club yet! BF5 GT with 280 on the chassis and 220 on the engine, blown to hell waterpump, overheated so bad by previous muppet it seized. Boosted multiple times despite all of this under my ownership to try and un-stick the seized turbo. Boosted so hard it finally killed the broken gearbox even. Used as a transport wagon for about 3km each way in this state. Betcha it'll blow when I rebuild it.
  19. Scroll back a bit Johnny, I think I posted a video pass of you trying to rip the camera out of my hand at the start of the straight. There's a few pics in there too...all on a lean (but croppable).
  20. That's a freakin good point. People don't do a heck of a lot with the EG33, especially since the advent of 3.0L awesomeness. SVX-powered insanity in an old Leggy...legendary
  21. Tis exactly right ;D Its great fun having a great stonking turbo to G-force around in but a highly-tuned N/A screamer is a completely different and equally fun beast
  22. I guess it's more what the GTBs come with than anything. I had the honour of driving Reuben's car up from Taupo. Freakin' amazing car...the features it has!! It's truly a classy, well-appointed car. It's possible to do a conversion on a non-turbo car though - you just miss out on a few goodies. But hey. You're making your baby better (fark, I'm making an HX fast. You can make a 2.2 Leggy fast ). It would be cheap as chips to dump a longblock from an early WRX into your car - they go for about $500 (+GST?) from Strong, complete with everything and tested. They're from the same year as your car thereabouts...newer ones are probably pricier. Far easier than an STi conversion, that's for bloody sure! As for heads...not sure myself what the in-between stages are, but I'm going insane and dropping STi heads onto an EJ22 block. Going high-compression pistons - possibly race pistons or thereabouts (12.5:1). The STi heads will drop the compression back a little at least. Having quad cam and AVCS is going to be handy, even though there's not turbo going in there. With the wider bore and same shallow stroke, it'll be a high-revver...if they can get an EZ30R to do 9,300rpm then I can make a mere 4-pot do the same ;D (Hopefully without going bang.) At the very least, the old engine will benefit from going quad-cam if it isn't already. Sucks if you snap the belt, but it wrings a little extra w00t out of the monsters. The SRX will happily do 7,000rpm+, and were the first to get AVCS. That MIGHT be something to look at for parts (or I could be talking out my arse), as they are a 2.0L N/A that brings 155hp to the table from stock. I found that slapping a filter and wider exhaust on my N/A had some decent results. It runs a little leaner than it used to from memory, because of the POD filter (shush, inner ricer has to creep out sometimes). It's got a 2.5" catback on there too...makes a decent exhaust note. Both mods really woke it up, it's far more keen to get up and go; fuel economy is down slightly, as is VERY low-end torque for the obvious reasons, but the results in the mid to high end are well worth it. Sort of...a fun little extra to tide the bored driver over until the new engine enters the realm of reality ;D
  23. Haha yeah that's the stuff - if I wanted to go turbo on this car I'd probably just buy an STi and keep this one as an econobox (but that's why I have the GT, lmao). The EJ22 is d00mbox, rock solid as roobs said there. It needs better heads and better compression ratio for more power that's for sure, definitely aftermarket computer (mmmmm LinkPLUS G4). They're expensive to upgrade because we're not talking about the monster SRX engine here, but at least they don't go BANG very often ;D While we're on the topic of UELs though... You may find a teeny bit of a drop in power and torque with the burbling headers - depends how in tune with the vehicle you are and how hard you push it. The even-length headers have better scavenging from what I understand...even though we're not talking tuned-length (*drool*) headers here. However, that's thoroughly offset by the sound ;D Which will probably be more nasal. Lol. Oh well... It's not like I'm not doing the same thing :3 Wanna see if I can molest a set of turbo headers into fitting despite some OBVIOUS differences between them - hey, nothing a little extra piping and sailor speak can't fix, eh?
