Legacy model help please

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone can help illumininate me on this....

I have been looking at purchasing a facelift 1998 to 2002ish non turbo manual 2 llitre legacy wagon. I have driven NZ new and import models. Howevever, the NZ new model (2001) I drove appears to be significantly lower in power than the import one (1998). I estimate this at about 20% difference. Is there an obvious reason for this e.g. the NZ model has a different spec engine or is it just a dog?! Any suggestions welcome. Cheers. Obe

Hi. 2 litre models and non turbo. Did a 0 - 100 test and the NZ one came in at 16secs versus 12secs for the import. Quite different. NZ one nowhere near as peppy or responsive. Could be gearing I guess but even accelerating in a high gear the NZ one was real sluggish.

The biggest difference I know of is the NZ New ones tend to have Dual Mass flywheels as opposed to solid ones... Also have longer gearing ratios and softer suspension.

In short, they're designed for long straight roads built to NZ Standards (eg; lots of potholes).

If you can get the VIN numbers of the cars (NZ New will start with JF1/JF2, Import will be 7A8) I can tell you what the different specs of them are, as they left the factory.

Hi my rsk starts 7A8 and is NZ new?

Alot of the NZ New Turbo Models in the earlier days were JDM Spec, so Subaru NZ were issued with an array of 7A8 VIN's by the then LTSA to identify the cars, in the parts system we still use the Bxx-xxxxxx chassis number though.

The NA's were generally International, AUDM or Euro Spec (with a swapped cluster, until the later years) so got their own JF1/JF2 number (J = Japan, F = Fuji Heavy Industries, 1 = Gunma Yajima / 2 = Gunma Main), this was in line with international VIN standards.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
