Insurance - I could be screwed - hadnt updated my address

Hey,

Two weeks before my car was stolen i moved 200 metres up the road from where i was living which my cousins.. to my aunties house.. i hadnt updated my address cause i had been sick and busy and didnt actually think about it..

do you reckon insurance will decline my claim?

possibly, if you tell them. why not just say you live at both houses. you know you are allowed to have a mailing address and a physical address

i told them i was in the process in moving at the time.. so hopefully they aren't bastards and decline it.. its not like i moved 20k away in a different suburb and everything.. lol fingers crossed

if they do you can fight it with court action, like boostcut said you can have mailing and physical address and like you said they not miles apart

I doubt very much they will care. Best thing you can do is tell them the truth. They are more likely to decline you for bullshitting them than for forgetting to change your address.

Insurance company's aren't all scum. I made a claim a few years ago and at the time I'd missed my monthly payement by a couple of weeks. They just got me to pay the outstanding balance and all was sweet. It wasnt a small claim either, with estimated damage value at over $10k.

yeah, i reckon i should be sweet, exactly why i did tell them i was moving.. im sure it will work out fine.. they dont seem to mind that much but its just a long waiting game haha
