HELP - 97 STB 3000RPM+ Stutter

Hey guys.

I am having issues with my fozzie that sound like common place.

97 Forester stb

189K kms

Factory Standard.

The engine is starting to splutter when the turbo is supposed to kick in. The revs seem consistent under load otherwise, so I dont think that it is an issue with coil packs/plugs allthough prob a good time to change.

KM's may be high but she is a good runner and not thrashed by prev owner whom I know.

Should I disconnect the battery to reset the ecu?

Is is an airflow metre issue?

Or should I just choose option B, bypass the lot and go with the STi conversion and have some fun until it detonates ;D haha........but no :-[

Any help would be much apprieciated.

You should do diag check then carry out ECU reset properly (batt disconnect N/G)

Sounds like ignition failing when the load is applied

Check spark plugs and fit Platinum replacements if needed

Thanks mate, N/G = Not good? heh sorry. How do I re set the ECU properly?

N/G= No good

Should be a thread on this site for ECU reset, very easy to do

I suspect plugs, and would be the next check after diag check
