Method for replacing up-pipe

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm after the simplest way of removing the standard up-pipe as I need to replace mine due to a small leak its developed. Anything to make life easier for me as I'll be doing it in my driveway (no garage anymore) from easy ways to get to the bolts etc would be great.

Cheers

If you still have your up-pipe brackets, yes, you need to remove the turbo to get the bracket off. You can't take the up-pipe out without removing said brackets

Believe me, i spent a f***ing hour trying last week.

Also means you get to check the health of the turbo though, which for me was a bonus. But once the turbo is off, the up-pipe comes out easy peasy pudding and pie.

The other option i suppose is to take the headers off, and slide it down, not up. But i think that's a little harder to do, you still need to take the downpipe off to get at the bolts, and you then need to get new header gaskets at $20 a pop (i hate re-using the factory crush gaskets).

Ugh, not what I was wanting to hear.

I was planning on sliding it down(gravity is there for a reason) but there are annoying brackets holding the fucker on are there? Guessing they are a real prick to get to as well (guessing block side of the up pipe?)

Might save this job for a day when the weather isn't screaming "Sit outside with bro's and beer and good tunes!" and when I have a minion on hand to give me a hand. That and I don't have any money left for a couple of weeks to buy even more bloody gaskets >:(

The brackets stop you from sliding it UP, which is the method i went with. They should be of no obstruction if sliding it down.

I would have gone with the sliding down method, but i didn't have the header gaskets, so went with the turbo out and up method.

Ahh choice, there is hope yet then. Decided I'd rather drink beer with the dog in the sun today instead of playing with the car. + the driveway is really REALLY hot... stupid black tar driveway.

Bugger eh? Oh well, taking a motor out isn't hard, me and drunken monkey did one in 45 mins flat (was def not a virgin though). It's a good chance to check and change any seals, do a wee clean up, work on any tricky things that are a bitch with the motor in etc.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
