Legacy GT 1996 auto eng probs

Hi I had some radiator work done back a few months ago and now have a hot smell coming from the front left of the block on the GT legacy auto. It seems there is a screw missing from the block but am unsure whether this is the cause. It only happens after a run of about 5mins and the car temp doesnt go up. I have noted there is black soot around the area where the smell and also white smoke comes from when the car is turned off.

Any ideas would be much appreciated and sorry for the repost

yea i got a 98 GTB bg5 auto and mine sometimes does the same thing after about 10-20 mins running sometimes i can see a tiny bit of smoke coming out off my bonnet scoop but i looked every where to try locate where its coming from everything seems sweet as it smells like something is burning i have a tiny oil leak so i guess it could be that every now and again just burning off not sure where my oil leak is tho the mechanic said its somewhere on top off the motor but if you do figure this out let me know lol

my bd5 twin turbo legacy did some thing similar to what you are saying, it was the rocker cover gaskets on both sides leaking, it was dropping a drop of oil on to the hot exhaust and only noticeable when you stopped. a thin white looking smoke would come up from out the bonnet scoop, and it smelt like something was burning, i couldn't see where it is coming from as it is leaking underneath the rocker cover and not on the side or the top. hope you find this helpful.

1+ for that mine does the same thing occasionally but its only the drivers side dripping onto the exhaust manifold

Its a subaru Feature,took the designers many many hours to design,it is the continual oil replensihment/rust coating system
