Hey Guys,

We have just been tryna fix my flatmates leagcy as the crank pulley had been put on wrong by someone and was wiggling like hell, due to this it had wreked the the keyway on the pulley, and the little D shape key that sits in the crank was mangeled. The only way to remove the key so that we could replace it was to take the cambelt off so that the sprocket on the crank could be removed, reveling the mangled D shaped key.

Now this all went smoothly and put the new key inplace, but we didnt lock the cams......(i no this is dumb and I know for next time!!!)

when we were fitting the cambelt back on the cams slipped!!!... but not to the extent that I would have thought it would have bent the valves? are they easliy bent??

But anyways we have checked the timing over and over and im certan that it is all fine, but when you wind the motor over and try to start it it sounds like the timing is out! And it wont start. Have we bent the valves?? and if so do you have to pull the motor out to replace the bent valves?

Any help would be great guys

Thanks

i wouldnt have thought that would be enough to bend the valves, i did a cambelt recently on a TT BG5A and used a rangi setup to hold the camshafts(ring spanners with cable tied to each end, tied to the engine and body) possible one camshaft is out by one tooth..thats all it take to make it run like shit.

You know for next time to mark everthing to shiat then take off cambelt ;D

did you line the double lines up in the middle and the single lines up on the outside with the cover... also the crank pulley doesnt line up tdc its about 2oclock if i remember rightly... check by putting the centre cover and pulley on...

search and learn what a leak down test is, a basic compression test could also tell you but it may not be a good idea cranking it over too much considering what you have been saying. Good luck

i can almost garuntee it hasnt bent valves.. just time it up and turn over at crank pulley twice as cams turn at half crank speed and feel for four compressions...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
