Legacy B4 central locking (door actuator sensor) issue

Hi all,

Bought a '99 Legacy Sedan (non-turbo/non bilstein) about a year ago, and a few months after purchase the central locking started acting up, in a way that when i unlocked the car (via remote from Mongoose M80G alarm) it would lock itself within 1sec again.

Cut a long story short i found the issue was with the drivers side door actuator, in that the sensors in it had worn, whenever i manually key locked the passenger door there was no issue but drivers side would lock it straight away again. Therefore i managed to replace this & fixed the issue.

However, 8 months down the track it has now happened again. Is this a normal subaru issue? Any ideas on what could be causing this?

The only lead I have is that I self-installed dynamat sound deadening into the front two doors pretty early on, and am thinking this could be rubbing against the rods that are up against it leading to the locking unit, meaning it eventually wears down the motor/sensors? Pulled apart the old one last time and couldnt find any cogs or anything that looked worn however...

Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated! Quoted something like $1000 to replace... however have done it myself with a $25 replacement from trademe... just a bitch to get in & out!

Cheers!

Any ideas on this guys? or possibly anyone who is wrecking a be5 legacy or similar.....

cheers

Never had any issue with this on either a B4 or GT wagon.

Have you checked the troubleshooting guide in the Subaru Service Manual for the BE5 RSK?

If you have lock rods fouling door frame, fix this first

Not uncommon at all for locking master unit to fail (drivers door lock/catch assembly)

I see that you replaced with 2nd hand, this is not great practise and often results in fault re-occuring

The price of 1k seems "out there", can you buy the part by itself and fit it yourself?

Thanks guys, appreciate the replies. Just want to make sure I do it properly this time as didn't expect this to reoccur so quickly.

Will probably end up taking out sections of the dynamat just in case. Will also look into getting a new assembly, and have no problems replacing it myself - just need to find somewhere I can get it @ a reasonable price.

Cheers again

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
