Fuel Filter BH9

So its time to do the fuel filter in my 2.5l 98BH9. Guessing that the fact there isnt one in the engine bay means its an intank job. Any idea what one may sting me? and any quick tips on changing it? Was hoping it was an engine bay job but things are never that easy.

It was a while ago but I changed mine fairly easily from memory.

Its under the drivers-side rear seat and is sort of built in to the lid. There are few tutorials around for doing this (maybe on here but certainly Google) and, again form memory the filter assembly was $100-$200 from Repco.

Paid $160 for the filter assembly from Subaru about 2 years ago (on our 1999 B4). Labour was 3 hours ish. About $500 all up.

Apprently those in tank ones are good for around 100,000 kms.

Our B4 had its one replaced at 160,000 and it was well overdue (all sorts of deposits).

3 hours labour. ouch.

from what I have found it seems pretty simple to change it. disconnect battery, lift rear seat, unscrew cover, electyrical plug unplugged then a few nuts then you can lift out and change the filter. easy as.
