Front swaybar endlinks question

Are the front swaybar endlinks on the BE/BH generation Legacy's symmetrical ? By that I mean are the 'left hand/right hand'ed?

I was just going to replace them but if I can swap them from one side to the other I can prove whether it is the cause as I'd expect the noise to move to the other side of the car.

Unless of course they're both worn out and it is just that the left one gets a harder workout

dont swap them, just take it off and rule the noise out completely...

Tie up the sway bar so it doesnt knock or get jammed if you remove the links

I gave it a try on Saturday. Not sure if it was any better with the swaybar tied up but with new endlinks in, the noise is still there.

So when it next annoys me, I'll have to continue the search!

I'm desperately hoping it isn't the strut... could it be the adjustable top hat? I hear that pillow joint ones tend to be noisy but I don't know how to tell which ones are fitted as Cusco make both types.

Why did you replace a part you hadn't confirmed as faulty ?

Other areas to check are the thop strut nuts ( in the centre of the top mount , common as for coming loose )

Sway bar mount bushes ( "D" mount ) on the sub frame

I had them and I couldn't be arsed putting the originals back on Basically I was lazy.

You mean the big nut on the top of the strut?

The nut under the rubber cover (gromet)

Access them in the engine bay at the top of the strut towers

if he has cusco coil overs he more than likely has pooned pillow ball mounts.

I really have to remember to take a photo tonight and post it up so that we can figure out what's actually under the hood

Struts are notorious for getting shagged in the BH for some reason but yeah top mount nuts loose or sway bar bushes knocking.

Or jack it up and have a look for cracked bushes. If any are cracked and look bad that will be your prob. Control arm bushes can knock too but you need to check those on the flat. Look for sagging.

It looks like my problem was indeed the nut on the top of the strut being loose as I got it tightened when I had it serviced and I haven't heard the noise since.

I feel really stupid now for not checking it earlier lol!
