ECU RESET - bl5 legacy 2L non turbo auto HELP

Had battery off last night to charge. Appears the ecu has reset. (trip meter and stereo have reset)

Tried to start this morning and it wouldn\'t start. (ran out of time - had to get to work)

Turned it over a couple times - it fired then died straight away. Engine bay smelt like petrol.

Do I need to do anything before starting it?

like depress accelerator for 10sec - then start? or do I need to go from PARK to NEUTRAL back to PARK?

any help would be great!

I\'ve read heaps online, but cant find any definite answers.

People say to:

turn ignition to on position (do not turn car over)

press accel down for 10 sec then back up

then fire her up

Update.

Turned car ignition to on but engine off.

The gauges did their sweep. Few clicks in engine bay. Then elec throttle body started buzzing.

So I tried the method of pushing accel right down and then back out. The buzzing noise stopped. And then started it. Fired up like it usually should. Going to let it idle for 10-15 min then drive it.
