BD5 Legacy RS Wont start

Put a 22mm socket on your crank pulley bolt to turn it slightly.

Definitely start with a good battery charge. Should be 12.6-12.8v.

Have you had any trouble starting it before this happened?

Haven\'t had any trouble starting it what so ever beforehand, and the first thing we did was test out a bigger / fresh battery on the car, obviously the existing one in it hasn\'t been charged since the breakdown the other day though.

Have you been through both fuse boxes?

Do you have any aftermarket wiring/gear fitted?

To add, definitely shouldn\'t be hard to rotate engine by hand off the main pulley bolt.. I usually use a normal/average length 1/2" breaker bar and a socket for lining stuff up. Plugs in etc

The only broken fuse is 20A on the Right

No after market electrical stuff besides a radio, and the immobiliser that i assume the previous owner put in.

I the engine bay fuse box or the cabin fuse box?

Are any of the big 30A, 50A and 100A Fuses blown in the engine bay fuse box?

Cabin fuse box, none of the ones in the engine bay are blown.

Also, trying to crank it manually with the spark plugs in is honestly not moving, it will not budge what so ever...

Edit: That cabin fuse is just the washer pump I think.

Just a hunch here, but pull your starter motor out then try to rotate the engine.

Maybe your starter motor is jammed on the flywheel?

I wish that were the case but...

All spark plugs out, starter out, and she doesn\'t budge, seized. So sad to say that I\'m sitting on a dead weight now.

Take the passenger side cam belt cover off and check out your cam belt.

I did, the teeth are all intact / belt on.

The old stretched belt, might of jumped a few teeth when you hit the clutch. Causing your valves to hit on one bank etc, locking the motor up.

Does the gear box feel normal?

Yeh the gear box feels completely fine.

Must be a belt failure?

I\'d take the cam belt off, then try turning the crank. You might have 2 broken valves stabbed into your piston heads... :-\

As much as I love the car I cant really afford to keep working on it, especially considering the cost it would take to repair / replace and my current situation ( Going back to Uni, no money etc)

Thanks for the help though man, really appreciated it, wish the outcome was better and that it was an electrical fault, however I guess it can\'t always be that way.

As for the car, not entirely sure what to do with it, repairing / replacing the engine isn\'t an option so at the moment its a bit stuck, not sure of its worth as a whole either.

Put the reg on hold while you weigh up your options. Keep an eye out for another motor, $400-$600. Cheaper than buying another car.

Find out exactly what\'s wrong before you spend or sell it though. Could still be something surprising and regretfully easy to fix....

Assuming you have got internal mechanical damage, she\'s stuffed anyway. Valves bent/snapped and piston heads damaged:

Put it in 5th gear and tow it, you\'ll soon know if there is internal damage. ;D

What exactly would I be looking / listening / feeling if I were to chuck it into 5th and tow it?

Pieces inside the engine breaking and crunching. They\'re already broken. :-\ It could maybe lock the wheels up?

If it\'s bearing seized it will probably free up then squeal, maybe knock badly like a BEB?

Or it could free up then start?
