Do I need dry sleeve?

Since 08, Sti have piston ring failure issue. Also my car is 120k now, I start to planing rebuild my engine.

Dry sleeve is not that expensive in my mind, and I believe the engine will be stronger after put them in.But after I do some quotation, labor did give me a shock. One workshop even quote for $3800 just for honing only~~~

Now I am confusing about dry sleeve if they are really necessary. I double checked some video in youtube that teach people how to rebuild engine. I also want to learn to build up a engine at this good chance.

Do you think is a good idea to DIY by myself? any suggestion please?

If wouldn't diy unless you have the knowledge and experience. Other wise it will end in tears.

How much power you aiming for is the question.....

after engine rebuild , I want to have a bigger turbo such as 3076 ,bigger intercooler and 800cc injector.

best on this, I just want a health engine for following upgrade.not a problem faulty one.

How about give me some idea for good rebuild workshop with affordable price?

Yes sleeves arnt expensive but its big job to install them and that requires specialist cnc machining. you don't need a sleeved block you will max out the 800cc injectors before you crack or shift a bore, Due to power output anyway.

We installed a darton kit on a 2.5 was a lot of work being the 1st one. Used our boring bar
