Fuel filter changed, fuel pump next?

Ello,

So I've trolled through the threads and got to page 16 then gave up so this is me being lazy....

But I've changed my fuel filter cause the car was running like poos. Now she seems ok but would it be a good idea to change the pump as well?

It's not the usual procedure to change the fuel pump at the same time as the filter... if it's running okay, why bother?

Soooo... she's died on me.

The car turns over but thats about it. I checked the fuse's and they look fine. turn the ignition on and I can hear the fuel pump priming but when I turn the engine over it doesn't fire up, she just keeps turning over.

Think this is a fuel pump problem or something else? 2 weeks ago I noticed the engine lurching slightly under load when heading up a steep hill so I thought changing the fuel filter would resolve it before it got any worse. Drove around fine without a problem however now evidently this has turned out not to be the case...

MAF is dead? check wiring. Cam angle sensor, triggers injection and ignition pulses afaik.. another place to start. Any CEL codes?

if it turns over good then it's not the battery, battery terminals or starter motor but it could be fuel or even electrical. Id first check that gas is getting to the engine, but youve changed the filter so thats unlikely unless its a clogged fuel line. Id then check for spark plugs , it could be that the coil or module went out, they can go withoout warning, mine did. Does yours have coil packs? or a distributor? check both of those too. Everything is run by the ECU, so if somethings down, you should have error codes on the dash.
