Auto to manual wiring - 94 BG5 Legacy

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Yes i have tried to search for the answer but couldnt find what i was looking for :-[

Have a BG5 legacy, its a 94. Motor and box out of a 96 GT legacy. How do i go about wiring up the manual box, some answers i found said just snip one earth wire, others said a whole lot of things had to be done.

Any help appreciated

Thanks Scott

Not quite as simple as snipping one wire. Reversing lights are easy to hook up. Neutral switch will need a relay if you want to use it and you may decide to change to a manual ECU as well. You'l also need to change to a manual ABS computer to do the job properly.

Im using an auto ABS unit in my manual conversion and it isnt good.

Mainly after info regarding the neutral switch, can you shed a bit more light on this? do the computers just straight swap? Cheers for the help

Not sure on engine computers swapping, have never done it on a BG. ABS should plug straight in with no rewiring needed.

If youre going to use the Auto computer you will need to hook up a simple relay to reverse the throw of the neutral switch. In the auto trans, closed switch is neutral and open is in gear. Manuals are the other way around.

Without the neutral switch you'll get a funny idle and possibly stalling at traffic lights.

Also Youll need to wire the speed sensor into the auto trans loom. Simple enough with the correct wiring diagram.

Im 90% sure youll need to run one. Only takes a $10 relay so its not a big mission. Id wait for someone elso to confirm as ive only done BC and BH conversions

Just thought as well - your exhaust wont fit quite right, the hangers on the Auto are in a different place to the manual. I fixed this with a big hammer on my wagon but you might need to look at finding a manual front section to get it to fit profesionally

watching this thread i have just been thinking of going to pickapart and getting san manual wiring loom

Not much point in that as 99% of it is the same.

This link might help ya mate. Its for USDM BC/BF models but most of the stuff crosses over. Maybe some different pins in the wiring but the same sorta stuff.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
