Impreza Sport Hatch leaking into the spare wheel area

Okay so I have been all over the car and all over the internet to try and find a solution and I stumbled upon ClubSub and though you guys might be able to help me out.

THis is what I do know

The leak is coming in the rear right hand side of the car and very high up, after siliconing a couple of caps that i though it might be coming through it now comes out a small gap at the top bend of the boot interior, runs down the inside of the panels and out through the tail light cover into the boot.

So its not the tail light seals, the rubber doesn't get wet so its not coming over the boot rubber and the boot lid is also dry, as I siad it is coming out a small gap in the metal framing, I don't want to just fill this gap as then the water will go somewhere else. There is no damage to the roof lining either.

Any IDeas?

drill a hole in the tyre well, thats what i did, no more puddles!

Check the rubber boot that covers the wiring to the tailgate. They leak around the base of the boot.

I thought that might be the case and have checked the wiring itself and the loom is dry but I will have another look around there, whats a bit more silicon between mates

It appears that it was a small crack just at the end of the side bars on the roof, silicon there has stopped the problem, now we wait for more rain

Ran the hose over it for ages this morning and all sorted not even a drop of water
