Factory forged STI internals, How much power can they handle?

AFAIK only the pistons are forged on the "factory forged engines". The subaru rods are all pretty much the same skinny breakable things with crap rod bolt/nut design up until V7 STI (when they went to a chunkier rod with a better rod bolt).

so the v7 is basically the best??....semi closed deck and beefier rods an bolts

yep something like that plus better pistons than the v8.. that 238kw@wheels was a v7 sti and been almost 1.5 years and no issues

old thread...but thought i'd throw something else into the mix

my car's been at 240kw 20psi for 2 years now, and 200kw 15psi the 2years before that, on a standard cast piston v1 motor. it's all about supporting mods + tune + mechanical condition

a v1 cast piston should have self imploded by now. or atleast gas axed some ringlands off the side

Not if you Know how to tune . Cast piston dont last long when they see detenation but if you have a safe tune and slightly high AFR they will be fine. Water/meth injection is the key to making big hp on cast pistons.
