Anyone have know-how on steering rack boots?

Yeah it's a pretty easy job.....if the car was in Welli

The mechanic charged me about $65 + GST to supply and fit one to a Toyota a few years ago, they charged for about half hour labour, to give you a rough idea if no one from CS can help

Best to ring around. I'd suggest a specialist place like Pit Stop or Midas - they'd have it done quicker (prob still charge an hours labour), and you'll need a wheel alignment done afterwards too as the steering system would throw it off

I haven't had a look at one, but I was under the impression the rack had to come out... if SPANKU or spark_38 or someone wants to tell me the easy way to do it, I'm happy to...

no the rack dont need to come off. just do behind the hub. pull the split pin off, undo the nut that is the bull head. knock it off with a hammer.

take the tie rod off, remove the old boot. replace with new boot. put tie rod back in. bolt the nut back in. the nut has a split pin in it.

my best mate to learn things.... YOUTUBE

here is the link to replace the inner tie rod - its also the same step to replace the boots also

watch carefully where he used to hammer to knocked the bull head off. this only need to shock it for it to come off. it might take several knocks til it comes off keep doing it til it comes off. use CRC or something like that before starting the job.

you can use cable tie to secure the boot

if your bend your split pins you can get one from repco or supercheap. bit it can reused. get a plier and strighten it. if fail then get a new one. easy.

remember to torq your wheel nuts to 80 footound.

for your own safty do not work under the cars without axle stands

just remember this video is for replacing inner tie rods. but its the best one that i seen on you tube. so you dont need to remove the tie rods.

often people fail warrant because of plays on the steering rack and steering rack boot. which is also easy to replace. and dont need to take the whole rack off. another 15 minutes job.

i hope that helps.

gutted there isnt much people that works on Subaru for fun down there as we do in Wellington.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
