  1. And she’s in, seems the controls that came with the wheel are either a different, darker version or all my silver trim pieces have just faded a heap over the years, not sure whether I should swap my old ones in or not. Install took a grand total of about 30mins with half of that spent finding the correct sized torx bit for the airbag. 😒

  3. Pretty sure it was Highbrook auto that @sobanoodle and a few others were using for exhaust work a few years back.

  5. Something in the trans will still be stuffed, don't spend too much time over-thinking it, take it back and insist it gets fixed properly. The gauge on the dash won't tell you if the trans is getting too hot but the smell could just be that they spilled some fluid when refilling the trans and that is now burning off somewhere.

  6. If you want to discuss these types of matters, please seek advice on the RD Forum, where you find my views reflect the experience of many many others in NZ AU, US and elsewhere. The US firmware works perfectly well in New Zealand. The US R3 firmware in particular is superior than the NZA firmware, many NZA R3s have been converted over now. I offer both firmware versions on the R3 but recommend the US firmware for the R3 in NZ as it covers the same range, frequencies and sensitivity, but with better support and functionality. The R3 and R7 KA band frequency ranges both extend beyond what is required in NZ. This why you would be advised to cut the range down in NZ to Ka band segmentation 4, 5, and 6 for the NZ police frequencies. The R7 has K band scanning range that extends below the frequency needed for the NZ mobile redflex regardless of firmware. Therefore the R7 is superior to the R3 regardless what firmware you install. Hope that helps. Myself and others have actually tested the R3 in NZ comparing both the US and NZA firmware installed on the same actual unit. The range is the same, and typically slightly better than the original escort redline.

  7. Strange... I have an R7NZ with NZ firmware. Something doesn't quite fit here. The US site specifically states that Australia and NZ unites should not use the firmware update available on the US site....

  8. I'm not going to reveal my sources, as I am in direct competition with blulink NZ. However, I will say that I'm am not importing from the US. This is a relatively new business venture for me. So please also try to see where I'm coming from. Hope that helps.

  9. My R7 is currently installed with the US firmware, but running our own fully comprehensive NZ only GPS database. The NZ firmware has not yet been released. However, the firmware will be interchangable, as our R3s can be installed with any firmware version. Therefore, at present we only have access to the US firmware on the R7. However, the R7 firmware is very strong, and better than you would have on the R3. Auto GPS lockouts and K band segmentation will be future options that will become available in the future. Currently I only have one R7 left in stock. Price would be NZ$1200.

  10. Funny, but rather silly. But understandable if you’ve never used a detector with directional capability. It adds a whole new dimension to your special awareness of radar, but if that means nothing to you, don’t waste your money. But don’t rubbish what you don’t understand 😂

  11. I am selling both the Uniden R7 and R3 on trademe. But if you send me a message on here, or look me up on the radar forum, I can offer a much better price (due to high Trademe sellers fee). These are completely brand new, and come with 12m warranty. Mine also come with our exclusive GPS databases which is the only one available for the R3 / R7 that includes all of the NZ cameras. This has taken many hours of development and testing with the help of many members on the Radar Detector Forum. => If people are keen to get either an R7 or an R3, I can supply them with shipping and better DB all at a lower cost than available anywhere else in New Zealand.

  14. I don't have a copy of the dyno chart yet but going back to the SS housing restored the performance luckily... spool is slightly better even. So OEM TS headers and semi custom TS up pipe with a 0.63 AR SS housing performs better than the same system with either a 0.61 or 1.01 AR TS. Kinda curious how the 0.81 AR TS would have performed, but not going to try. Next thing on the consideration list is whether to get an e30 tune to keep temps down with anti-lag.

  15. Hey All! Joined the Sub Squad about 3 months ago with an 08 legacy GT import. After 2 months, I had a horrible jolt driving home one day.. had repairs done under warranty etc. And was advised there was suspension problems and broken solenoids in my trans. I've now had two solenoids replaced along with a trans fluid replacement. Fast forward a week or two, and I'm still finding some smells while driving and some sticky gear changes - no matter what driving mode, or if I'm in auto/tiptronic. Any ideas on what might be going on? Heat gauge is always the same, about s notch under the midway mark - was this way before issues started popping up. Forgot to add, milage on car so far is 26400km. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas and recommendations. Edit: have gone to the folks who helped me with the transmission fix, let them take it for a few tests. Guy advised that the gearbox is shifting as it should, but he'd like to do a flash of the computer and retain it under warranty to retrain the car back to new status. Should be done by next week Friday which is always a plus. Thanks again for your help! Feeling welcomed to the community Haha.
