  1. If your interested in going for a drive during the day tomorrow or friday I maaay be keen but coronet peak opens tomorrow (barely) so may have to go there instead haha
  2. But on a note of agreement, the marketing is pretty damn stupid...
  3. The Santa Fe are good semi-SUV vehicles... As long as you get post 2007 models (big problems before that apparently). Average fuel usage of 7.9l/100km is a shitload better than my subie gets thats for sure, can fit more stuff in them and the 4WD system is better than given credit for (I've personally seen a pro offroader get a santa fe on road tires further than his purpose built Navara on Mudzillaz, god knows how but it happened) plus tows the boat (heavy one) better than most other 4x4 we have had... (upgrade chip for the ecu gets some handy extra HP for no engine mods at all too)
  4. You know what I think you might just be right... haha
  5. Sounded worse than what i meant... I don't mean do skids all the way up the ski field roads, just that if you lose traction you need to accelerate to ensure the chains/ladders make connection with the ground. If your driving sensibly and have experience on how to drive with them (and they are good for tight budgets too) ladder chains are fine (although if you haven't used chains before then you would be silly to NOT use the diamond pattern) AND BACK TO THREAD TOPIC: Got new battery not long ago ready for cold mornings (old one was definitely not good haha) and got all my gauges in properly, now just have to wait for next oil change to put in the senders so they actually have a reading on the gauges!!
  6. Snowsweat chains are all good with just the straight ladder... just make sure they are on real tight and if you feel it sliding you give it some jandal!!! Just gotta make sure you don't lock up on the way down with no chain touching the ground
  7. Exam was good aye, tuesday is NOT looking like a winner though... Sorry I didn't manage to make it over today, hope you got everything done that was planned
  8. Pretty sure those were over 60mm corrugations on Scroggs... Would Abdul clear those without losing some of the undercarriage? lol
  9. exam tomorrow morning so im out sorry
  10. I wont be wiring mine up for a wile because have an exam saturday and tuesday... Tuesday is a b*tch so yeah unless someone thinks they can help me wire up the gauges in under half an hour i'll have to miss it and do them another time, I have unused wiring from an old dvd player/sat nav that i ripped out where they are going so shouldn't be too hard to get power and illumination from that, just gotta get a test light to see which wires are which lol all the best for you guys if u still have exams and for work on your cars (obviously we know which is the priority hahahahaha)
  11. I also have a boost gauge i want to put in (oil and water temp too)... All installed in the car now just need to do the wiring
  12. exams tomorrow and Friday so I'm out sorry
  13. Put gauges in the dash (top centre) took a bit of hacking and sanding but it'll do the job for now and will try do a decent job of it once uni exams are over........ Better than having a din sized hole with nothing at all in it
  14. Did mine a few weeks ago using boot struts from an old legacy... Work a treat, they are strong enough to hold the standard weight bonnet with only one but i figured with both i can always disconnect one if need to work from the side at all...
  15. Anyone know if the REAR GC8/GF8 strut braces will go into an SF5 forester?
  16. I believe it must have progressed to young teenagers by this stage... Cars can only grow so much being fed on preschoolers, a balanced diet is essential
  17. Cant make that cruise sorry, my exams aren't over till the 21st
  18. Hay, I'll be traveling to Q'Town as many weekends as possible from 29th june onwards... If anyone's keen for a shared ride to save on gas then either post here or PM me. First trip is either 29th or early morning 30th, staying for a week and a bit Most other trips will be weekend only
  19. I don't know anything about it when it's flashing but when it's on solid and your actually in 'hold' mode then your car will be trying to take of in 2nd gear, also its in full time awd as apposed to the progressive system the autos run on normally which may be affecting the tight turning areas...
  20. Assignments finished and study ain't starting before 11am at all this weekend so I'm keen if it gets any...
  21. Just put on a new front brace (alloy) with full loops... Definitly noticable when you throw it into corners, now to find a rear......
  22. Whenever I turn my key to the 'ON' position the doors automatically lock... Is this to do with my alarm and can it be stopped (I think its a dynatron, would have gone AVS but it was already in the car) or is it something standard to Subaru's? Also if I was looking at going from a 4 star to a 5 star alarm what sort of price bracket am I looking at for an AVS system?
  23. One of the girls in my flat goes down semi regularly (but its pretty erratic)... Shes down atm but may be going again in a while. Not sure how much room she would have but I could always ask. Alternatively jobasa should come up to dunners for a catch up and sink some piss and get them wile hes up ;D
  24. New front strut brace for the wagon... Cheers to mintgtb
