  1. 19yo loses life on straight piece of road http://www.stuff.co.nz/manawatu-standard/news/2261961/Teen-killed-in-high-speed-crash/ Who didn't pay their garage bill ? http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2260498/Gang-threat-issued-to-get-400-bill-paid
  2. All the above and clear interior shots. WRX tachometer has lower redline than STi and different instrument faces. Plus different seat trim. Albeit teh above can be changed.
  3. I'm a wee bit biased but I say go for a classic v6.
  4. Comparing race histories with Porsche will always end in favour of Porsche. Ferrari is probably the only comparable car company.
  5. In general agreement with a couple exceptions. 1. I think a lot of GTR owners will be tempted to lap a GTR then drive it home. ;D 2. The 'vette is not totally devoid of a racing history... http://corvettemuseum.com/specs/2006/RacingHistory.shtml
  6. What's your point ? Porsche GT2 3.6L twin-turbo 530bhp flat-6 1440kg. Hi-tech vs. "lowtech" pushrod 'vette. ;D
  7. Price no object it would be the 'vette ZR1; Looks nicer, sounds much better , handles just as well as any 4wd and it's FAST. Checkout all the vids on Youtube including the 'vettes incredible 7:26 Nurburgring run and a roadtest where it blitzes the GTR, Porsche GT2, Ferrrai 599. Price considered; the GTR. Nothing compares at the $150k mark. Oh yeah; You can buy the Corvette's LS9 as a crate motor to put in whatever you fancy.
  8. SVX looked better, how could it not ? It was designed by one of the greatest car doodlers ever, Giorgetto Giugiaro/Italdesign. While the Ferrari and M5 were hardcore performance cars, the SVX and XJS were softer, more genteel cars. Designed to waft along in comfort rather than with sharp handling and high speed. The SVX was hampered by its weight; 1600kg and only ~172kW It was a great looking, luxurious 2+2 touring car for the well heeled, though not to the tune of $116k. Indenticar list them as being first imported in May 1992 at $75K.
  9. I'd take the Vette ZR1 too but it's a LOT more expensive ! There's an outfit in Australia converting them to RHD. No change from $400k Compare that with an NZ new GTR at ~$150k...
  10. So far off the mark it ain't funny. Back in it's heyday the SVX was compared to the Jag XJS.
  11. Yes, ET = Einpresstiefe = insertion depth Can be stamped inside or outside of wheel. If it's ET47 then it's an offset figure. Never seen an offset figure with a slash in it. ???
  12. You going rice ? Your monoblock Rays look nicer. ;D
  13. You need the services of Mr DPI/Carson Racing. He's a dab hand at the ol' photoshopping thing. Won't all the signwriting add weight and thus slow you down ? ;D
  14. Ok. What did you do with your yellow STi v6 ?
  15. It's got 66,660km on it.
  16. Yes, wait until you have a full set. Or sell your three. IMO braided brake lines (which hopefully don't break ;D) do stuff all on a road car.
  17. Yes, that's part of the productionisation of the v8 Spec C front end. Front lower arms are different length, with different mounting (IIRC). The effect is increased castor for greater stability and less understeer. If you look at the front wheels of a v8 Spec C or STI v9, the front wheels no longer sit squarely in the guard, they are pushed forward by 15mm. Wheelbase increases by same amount (v9 2540mm, v8 2525mm).
  18. RA-R and S204 were bester ! ;D S204 if you liked a bit of luxury. RA-R for the truly hardcore STI experience
  19. Flashing light = something is broken ! Try turning ignition off and on, if that doesn't reset it take car to a Subaru specialist. Some DCCD info here http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php?topic=68.0
  20. Thank you Number One Fan ! ;D Think I have a few unposted ones somewhere. Focus ST Megane R26
  21. Hubs changed from 5x100PCD to 114.3x5 with the STI v9, more importantly the V9 also productionised the v8 spec C front end re-jigged suspension mounting. My testdrive of the V10 was lost in the Great CS Crash of '09 but I found my original notes so redux time; ;D Postscript; 2007 did indeed roll on with the disappointing MY08 Impreza, also testdrove one of those and will post the notes if there's demand. The ultimate V10 was the mighty STI RA-R. Runner-up, the S204 One on Tardme now http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/auction-200636837.htm
  22. Hold out for a Spec C. Standard NZDM 2.5 or JDM 2.0 are ass to drive.
  23. they are here already.. every dealer i have talked to of late has warned to stay away as they are far to new and nothing is known about them.. Its not a flash looking tyre - Ive seen it. Performance is anyones guess, apparently it is supposed to be quiet though Rated shit hot by EVO in Europe and Motor across the pond. Can't be any worse than the over-rated F1 GS-D3
  24. Ditto...
