  1. cos the idea is to have quieter cars on the road not getting more BR's with wofs.
  2. He got it back last week. All nice and tight now.
  3. Wise words indeed. Education's a joke here. But on the stupid govt advert theme, I get really really really wound up by that stupid "lab conditions" test with the dude on the track hitting gravel in the corner, then being saved by the traction control system. Too many flaws. The first time see's him jerk the wheel, lift the gas and dab the brakes causing the massive oversteer. The second is when he goes through and lifts his eyebrows, saying 'wow! I'm a really shit driver and didn't even notice the gravel or have to react for it' Ooooh it makes me mad!!!!!
  4. Launching could result in a slight warping of the flywheel, so when you let out the clutch, the judder you feel is just a tiny part of the clutch gripping and releasing every rotation.

    CEL help

Look behind the IC and see if the wires are in one piece where it bolts into the exhaust? Beyond that i'm outa depth lol
  6. saw this today and though it was pretty cool, shame it doesn't do RPM but you could rig it to injector duty, intercooler temp, speed, throttle position etc. All for $85. http://autospeed.com/cms/A_111416/article.html
  7. That would be a double-declutch, a different procedure to a downshift blip. [quote name='cpt kernow said: I drove a merc AMG630 v12 supercharged that did the meanest double clutch and exhaust backfires when you lifted the gas! To have it on a nissan would be cool. Now I'm going to read up on the electronic retrofit so my mrs doesn't keep destroying engine mounts on downshifts. ? /quote] What model's that ? Didn't know the SC V12's did the downshift blip. Neither did I. A manager of the merc dealership on the shore was picking his bike up from the shop and asked if I wanted a drive. Would you refuse a free spin in a $260,000 car?

  9. the only good thing about nissans are timing chains
  10. TBH if it's gonna be a mum's car. How often is the boat gonna get towed? If it's only once a month through summer you won't need a big car for the other 350 days of the year? Or if it's gonna be at least everyweek, there's no replacement for displacement and a diesel wins everytime.
  11. Same. I bought some brandnew v7 struts to replace my worn stock ones but after 15k of use I think it's too low and want to go back to standard height. I'm gonna go with king springs that'll stiffen by 30% over stock with about 20mm lift. Means I can tow stuff and fill the boot without my headlights blinding the oncoming.
  12. What about a 2l NA impreza? Looks like a car, easy to park and run-about, has the same running gear and trans as a forester.

    Wheel offset

you mean BCD. Mine's a 5x100 but I think the newer ones are around 114. Offset is how far in or out the wheel is from the body.

    Wheel offset

42mm i think. will check the manual nope 48 it says.
  15. you mean mcraenz? or me? I'm Torbay
  16. Same as above. The labour's the pricey bit. Get all the seals and pulleys changed for the extra 200 or so otherwise if they go halfway then you've gotta pay for the full job overagain. And make sure the oil pump's pulled out and the screws tightened, mine wasn't and a new belt was needed after 10k as it leaked.
  17. I'm a old man who likes Subies for their handling and grip. Was the only real AWD I'd consider for driving to the mt. Luckily with stock springs (soon 20mm lift) and roofracks I don't get the BR tag. My next is gonna be a Legacy turbo diesel. Liking the variable vane technology, full torque from 1200rpm!
  18. Schumacher? I can't remember the first but the second was Damon Hill I think. Can't wait for Prime to show it
  19. I almost grabbed those headers lol. If you saw an impreza single cam, I've got the sump. Do the other pick-a-parts have any foresters?
  20. I guess they're reactive to the situation. Tone of voice and facial expressions are most of the communication. If you roll eyes or go 'sorry officer' it could pisss em off a little. Who knows, maybe in Akl they're all just friendly happy peeps? (insert tui ad)
  21. That could be good. See if it's got what I want before I start buying parts. I'm waiting for my pclink torrent to finish then I'll be all good. cheers
  22. Looks good, sofar. I'm not a power hungry dyno fiend, but when a car is sold, Subaru don't know who's gonna buy it so all the settings are compromised. I wanted to drive around and map what my car's doing then think about it and maybe tweak some stuff. Like changing the boost map or injector cycles. Eg If I swapped to yellow injectors and flattened off my boost curve I could I'd be able to adjust the fuel needed without swapping out my ecu or afm. I do stuff like this, not because it's the easiest or chepest but the most rewarding. Like at the moment I'm building a valve amp for my home stereo because I can, not because I need to. I could buy one better, maybe (not likely) cheaper but that's not challenging
