  1. Have had details passed on to me, so will give him a call during the week.... Cheers
  2. Anyone on here know whos best to contact to get IHI turbos upgraded ? Thinkin of getting a bigger compressor wheel fitted to my VF37 twin scroll. Steve Murch obviously is the king when it comes to turbo work like this but cant get hold of him directly, anyone recommend some places ?
  3. Agreed wouldnt touch M & H with a 50ft pole. Bought a front pipe for my GC8 that was supposedly straight bolt on - suffice to say it didnt even bolt to turbo properly, sat hard on the steering knuckle, hard up agaisnt gbox crossmember, no flanges lined up etc : so hate to see what their cranks are like or how long they last
  4. Tuning and performance Ltd in Hamilton do open source reflashes if your set on something local
  5. I dont see why a AFC couldnt be used, bit rougher then getting a proper ECU, but would work. Only issue with AFC type devices is its altering the AFM reading, not the injector pulse width directly, which in turn wil change the calculated load the ECU uses which wil screw with other maps like timing, most likely pushing into load cells with more advance and thus allowing detonation, etc. In other words it would work as a bandaid solution to get it driving but id save up for a cheap link or similar. Also, the GDB ecus can be scaled to suit any injector size, but trying to wire one into an old legacy would be more time and money than its worth IMO
  6. Not from an RSM or anything but from datalogging with the laptop my V8 STi does roughly 4.5sec, with a fairly good launch. My old STI type R coupe managed pretty much the same too.
  7. Shit those are some mean pictures ! Awesome scenery down the south island by the looks, I think I might have to do a drive down there myself
  8. Hey man, ive got a V8 sti which ive been retuning with opensource software, and bought a V7 ECU as a backup incase of failed flash, etc. The V7 has a different maps to the V8 and also V8 ecu has some extra maps. In saying that I have plugged the V7 ecu in and it runs the car fine, just felt a bit flat in performance.
  9. I can get to Hamilton no problem. All good mate, i take it you have an 04 wrx as well?(can only do Ver 7 upwards). One thing is though I take no responsibility for a failed flash, but ive reflashed mine 30 times so far with no issues. Removing the speed limit is only a 5 min job as well. PM if keen. cheers do you use ECUFlash and RomRaider software? Interested in knowing is all, Tactrix cable to yea? Sure do ECUflash and Romraider. And the cable I use is not a genuine tactrix, but an evoscan cable(which is openport 1.3,same as tactrix ones anyway), works a treat

  11. Just reflash it, if you can find someone with the opensource gear. If you were in hamilton I could do it for free.
  12. My old V4 coupe peaked at 18psi thru the midrange dropping to 16psi by redline, fully standard everything. Running 10.5-11:1 AFRs.
  13. Had a EJ207 block put in my old RSB, which i then converted to single turbo(with VF22, FMIC, exhaust, boost controller, intake as mods- 190kw atw) Drove it for 20000km without missing a beat at all so must be existing faults that kill them otherwise, imo theyre a solid unit, alot better than earlier EJ20's.
  14. Can say yes to this....the injector scaling can be changed to suit whatever size injectors, as well as latency etc.
  15. Shit thats some awesome power in a nice light shell....can only imagine how quick it must be !
  16. Never been a fan of the V7s, but quite liking this one, tidy as !
  17. Yep 17in Enkeis, reasonsably light though. And yea the front lip gives it a nice stance imo
  18. Finally managed to take some pics of my new WRX - 02 STi version 8.
  19. Anyone know what the cost is for a reflash tune ? Ive seen the Ecutek is quite expensive :-\
  20. Haha the v8 isnt on his yard for much longer
  21. Name: Damon Location: Hamiltron Occupation: Electrician Subaru's Owned Before: 96 BD5 Legacy RSB - bought it stock, converted to single turbo and did a few other things Subaru's Owned Now: 98 WRX STi Type R - stock but stil bloody fun to drive ! Length of Ownership: 1 year 3 months
  22. 98 V4 STi coupe....factory standard no mods. Round 52-55l to fill usually from fuel light, gets me 550k with normal driving(bit of boosting here and there) on open road, thats mobil 98. Best I did was new year 615k from full to nearly empty(took 55l to fill!). Round town never measured, never used 95 either. Pretty good economy for a turbo 2L i reckon.
  23. Agree with the o2 sensor bein faulty. Had the exact problem on my V4 STi , changed the o2 sensor, cleared the surging straight away.
