  1. ah, i see, thanks for the info ahh well, i might see if anyone wants to swap a LSD center for an Open on, seems a shame to weld up a perfectly good LSD lol on a side note the other diff is the a way of telling if its 1 way, 1.5 or 2 way easily?
  2. Ok first diff does look open, no smart bits found, just the left side spider is part of a larger piece
  3. Guess i better open it up to find out then lol So the second one could be a subaru plate type or is a after market mechanical type?
  4. So the first one is open? ok wasnt sure as it appeared to have plates to the crown side of the spider gears Wasnt sure as I\'ve never had a subby diff apart before
  5. Ive pulled a couple of diffs apart and they both look like the lsd types, Can anyone elighten me?
  6. Awesome, highlands looks like an amazing track, are they running it again at any stage?
  7. Racing Sunday at Piper Vally Road, should be good have fun tommorow at the seal stuff
  8. unsure about the Apexi stuff, i got my Possum link Tuned at NZEFI and tune was miles better than it was, good guy to deal with and didnt sting too much on price from my experience all tuners have stories like that as well as horror stories of "you tuned it wrong and it went bang". unless you hear it first person never sure if it was the build of the motor(or old unbuilt/unknown motor for that matter), tuning or just out and out bad luck. be honest with whoever you pick about whats in the motor and what history you know of it. talk to the tuner and go with one you trust, hopefully someone else will have someone with experience with the Apexi tuners? Yup this too
  9. the wagon rear bumper looks similar, are they the same? looking for a new one for the one i trashed at the last rallysprint and saw a couple a pickapart but not sure if they are the same? Cheers
  10. next silly question, Will a V8 hub from a Forry fit onto a GC8?
  11. remove and run a external oil cooler? the kits arent massively expensive, eg http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/radiators-cooling-systems/auction-639407564.htm Note- this is just an example i havent used this kit, but shows can do the oil cooler in the front, and has the extra bungs in the side for your sensors im using one that does an remote oil filter as well, just make sure you get the ones with the nice curved fittings not the cheaper ones that are just drilled as my kit came with these and the fittings are fairly expensive. welcome to have a look at my setup if you want
  12. Yep i did, you stalking me? Nah I was working and infront of the guy who served you. Should of come to my till! I was going to shout out.. but I have may forgotten your name (Sorry) and then got busy with other customers. lol was in my own world at the end of the week, till selection based on shortest line not cashier
  13. I have a dumb, but not-dumb question. Did you do your shopping at Countdown on Moorhouse Ave tonight? Yep i did, you stalking me? Drop the suspension by undoing the pinch bolt (14mm socket) and using a long lever (I just use the handle of my powerbar) to pry the balljoint out of the bottom of the hub. This means you\'re not undoing the strut mount bolts and messing with any of the alignment stuff. And the hub comes free enough to pull the cv\'s out of the back of the hubs. [quote name='666SubSpeed said: Yeah you can, and its quite quick and easy to do. 1. Separate the hub from the lower control arm at the ball stud. 2. Pull pin from C.V at gearbox end. 3. Get a friend to pull the hub outwards while you pull the inner C.V from the box. 4. repeat on other side of car. You don\'t have to touch any of the bolts that adjust anything and the lower control arm ball stud will only sit in just the right spot so no need for an alignment. I use a short flat head screw driver to force open the split behind the ball stud on the hub, then it will just slide out. You will have to remove the pinch bolt completely to get it to release properly and it is normally easier to push the arm down than try and lift the hub out. Once you have the hub free you should have enough movement to get the inner C.V disconnected from the box. Remember you will have to pull them out of the way when the gearbox goes back in. you guys are awesome! thats exactally what i wanted to hear! thanks
  14. Dumb Question time, can you remove the gearbox without dropping the suspention at the front? i just got wheel alignment and now gearbox is coming out and rather not pay again. pretty sure i will, but anyone got any tips?
  15. What you smoking? the CS search functions on the piss I just google what ever im looking for followed by \'clubsub\' works good 98% of the time lol, ok may have misrepresented the search function meant there info is on the site just have to find it, must admit this was on the 2nd page of results and i knew what thread i was looking for.....
  16. http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,38046.0.html 6 pages of baffled sump goodness the search is good, just have to wade through all the stuff on the site
  17. http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,2376.0.html http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,27704.0.html search reveals a couple of threads about insurance http://www.classiccover.co.nz/ i had the rally car with them, 5000km a year but you could buy more in 5000 chunks. although im not sure if its just a road subaru if they do cover, they told me it was only because it was a rally car that they covered subarus.
  18. I have one of hose in my shed not fitted yet. I know a few guys on here run them with no issues. However my theoretical concern is being deeper but the Oil pickup being the same length as before means if you run low theres more chance of picking up air and not oil? i dont think the base is any lower than a standard sump so shouldn\'t be any bigger gap than standard. and with all the extra oil, 2L extra over standard, the chance of running low should be somewhat negated?
  19. this is what i run http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/engines/auction-609774713.htm increased capacity to 6.5L, plus a 1 L in the oil cooler, filter, lines etc. only done about 300kms of racing on it but seems good , just a cheaper option that still gives you some gating and extra capacity. to be fair i rally my car so the G forces arent as big as track with semis or similar etc etc.
  20. awesome thread, just used to rewire my tps, will plug in and see if it all works
  21. awesome info, wasnt sure what to search cause thats wat was looking for ! yeah im just a bit confused because i thought the legacy was going to plug strait in. although from looking at this the 3wire TPS(which was is the legacy) is actually a V3/4 loom?? are all te 4 plug ECU\'s wired the same? cause if they are im guessing i can just swap the sensors, change the plug to use the current TPS and done?
  22. its a different manifold on the engine that was in the car, plus i want to run the possum link thats been setup for the old loom/manifold. and the throttle body is longer so the intercooler i want to fit in(v5 STI) doesnt physically fit in the hole
  23. yep thats what i had heard, but the plugs between the loom and my motor are different, and the impreza has an extra square plug at the back which my motor doesnt have. my motor loom has 2 main plugs to connect to the body harness over by the battery, the impreza has 2 square plugs in the same place, but of a different type, and and extra one up the back?
