  1. Was parked outside the mrs place in upper Hutt, Cut the alarm siren wire and ripped out whole alarm box. Only got about 10m around the comer and stopped. Only reason they didn\'t get away with it was the steering wheel lock meant they had to rip the wheel off and had no way to drive it plus hot wired it wrong.... Left the head unit, speakers, amp and only took the $100 sub (by cutting bunge cord : ) Alarm was mongoose M60G... wont be going there again!!! Now Im in the market for Nardi steering wheel, Ignition Barrel for GF8 and new alarm.... But as far as attempts at stealing go it was pretty terrible. Amateurs...
  2. Sweet thanks, ive sussed a 3" on trade me for a GGB which should fit but question no. 2 Will a 3" down pipe mate up with a standard wrx cat back or will an adapter be needed? Have seen some people saying the standard donut gasket seals the gap pretty well but seems like a bit of a jump to me.
  3. Yes it is indeed, it is called the filter/dryer. and the plug in the top is a pressure switch I\'m pretty sure. Will a exhaust from a 97 GF8 WRX fit on an 01 WRX hatch?
  4. Sorry have tried again, Am having trouble with my photo server... :
  5. Heres my gurl, Tossing up weather to hold on to her or or update to a later model... ???
  6. Ive had my fair share of coolant bleeds on these things i find the best method is to park car facing up hill steeper the better. MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COLD BEFORE STARTING! 1)Take Radiator (top tank) pressure cap off 2) Take top radiator hose off at radiator end (leaving it connected to the block) and try keep it pointing up 3) Fill engine via top hose until you cant fit anymore coolant in 4) reattach top hose and disconnect Large (ish) hose that goes into top of top tank (turbo coolant return i think) the one thats directly behind the cap. 5) Continue to fill system via top tank pressure cap untill full (squeezing the top rad hose while doing this helps to move air along) 6) Reattach hose and top up overflow to FULL Squeeze the top rad hose some more just to make sure you\'ve got the big air bubbles out. 7) Start engine and run toping up coolant as it drops via rad cap, rev engine to 2000 ish (coolant will drop) top up as much as you can and while holding at 2000 replace cap (make take a helper as you will need to do it quickly before it all gets shot out) 8)Take for drive/ run until fans come on top up overflow as needed Make sure to check level again the next day or once cold and top up as needed.
  7. Also make sure that you havent got the pipes from the top tank to the radiator and overflow mixed up, very easy to do as they go right next to each other. Seems so simple but it got me once ;D One from the cap neck goes to the tube that runs along the rad to the overflow and one strait from the top tank goes into the radiator next to the top hose. If they are around the wrong way all the coolant will be blown out the overflow every time the cooling system tries to pressurize.
  8. Cool, i cant remember where I got it from.. or how reliable it is but has been right against every car i\'ve checked. Had to change the link : so make sure you click on the link in my original post if you want to have a look.
  9. I think this is what your after: Substitute UK for NZ (I think correct me if im wrong) https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=4c6f4ec0f2ef91da#cid=4C6F4EC0F2EF91DA&id=4C6F4EC0F2EF91DA%21171
  10. Have JDM specs here: http://pacificcoastjdm.com/review/subaru/imprezagc8/stats
  11. Had a similar issue with my WRX, but mine was more of a rumble turned out to be the front right brake sticking slightly . Can you feel it through the steering? does it change as you go faster? Good thing to do is find an empty car park, get up to 50-60kph and jam on the brakes (ABS kicking in) do that a few times, and also try going backwards quite fast often this will free things up a bit. And its free haha
  12. Thanks for the info guys. Im talking standard JDM WRX here (no sti stuff), The JDM 97 WRX GF8 puts out 250ps from and EJ20G Standard 97 WRX GC8 puts out 280ps from EJ20K Even the earlier 95 GC8 STI put out 275ps on an EJ20G with Greys and a TD05 so the engine itself can handle it (not going into the forged / non-forged debate) How much boost can a TD04 FE handle realistically without s#$ting itself?
  13. Hi guys, I was wondering how hard it would be to bring my 250ps GF8 up to the 280ps of a GC8 wrx. Im currently running a 2s ECU with grey injectors, Purple AFM, td04 (ie: completely standard) Could I just put in a 1s ECU (from a GC8 of the same year) and some yellow injectors to bring up to 280ps? or would i run into a multitude of problems there? Would my little tdo4 handle the hike in boost okay (12psi to 15-16psi)? ??? I suppose the hardest it would be would be a set of yellows, Vf22 and ECU swap maybe orange AFM too? Just wondering how hard it would really be to bring GF8 up to GC8 stats. Thanks in advance.
  14. Ive always used ryco filters from supercheap, theve never let me down. So when it needed doing i put a ryco fuel filter on my WRX, is starting to show signs of rust after only 5000ks. Just surface on the outside though. Still am going to replace it soon.
  15. Costs more to register (i.e.: first registration, get plates etc.) anything over 2.4l but for your monthly licensing I don\'t think it costs anymore. PS: Merry Christmas
  16. Yep, definitely alternator. :\'( Reason it kept running was it was using the power in the battery to keep the car going, would have gone into limp mode (wont go past 2nd gear low boost etc.) Engine is using all the power from the battery so all your instruments and accessories will stop working. A 2nd hand one will get you up and running, get a new battery too as it would have drained the battery completely and it will never be 100% again, at least give your one a full charge on a good charger with de-sulfation function etc.
  17. Dumb (and well asked question) time Does anyone know of an oil or addative that has had good effects on piston slap? Cars sounding abit rough in the mornings. Am using penrite 10w-50 seems to be okay just wondering if theres anything better out there. ;D
  18. I agree wasnt the best one and that car wasnt the worst, but was entertaining and still a good watch and that lexus was pretty terrible. Especially if you consider the price and the expectation from toyota.
  19. Clarkson gets run over by GT86! NOT ;D Just him testing it, From the DVD "Top Gear: Worst Car in the History of the World" EDIT: Was taken down by BBC (dam them) will see if i can post some where else and re-link..
  20. Sweet thanks subirex, will definitely do that.
  21. I dont know about the ssm software or how it works so i cant help you there sorry. You can pull the codes manually by connecting the black terminals under the dash together, there are how to\'s all over the net. You can check the O2 sensor buy finding its connector (from memory its the bottom one on the bank of connections between battery and the washer bottle) unplug it and see if the car idles/runs better, and to double check back probe the wires and check for the 0.1-1v signal. Bosch recommends replacing the O2 sensor every 50-80,000ks anyway. :
  22. Hi, It could be the fuel pump or fuel preasure regulator might be the cause as black smoke usually indicates to rich mixture. Do you know anyone with a OBD II scanner? Really need to get it on one and see what that puts out. Also does the idle change according to engine temp? ie: Idles fine when cold but then goes lumpy once warmed up? If so would be checking your Front O2 sensor voltage, the ECU reliles heavily on this sesnor to calcualte mixture once engine is warm, It should be Fluctating between 0.1-0.9v ish. They often get worn out and carboned up and need replacing, just dont go to subaru for one theyll charge you an arm and a leg, a Bosch universal one will work just fine.
  23. Haha sweet, looks like the cars all sorted then, thanks for all the input guys was a great help. ;D And thank you hijacka for the o2 sensor that saved the day.
  24. UPDATE: O2 sensor in, Car seems to be running a lot better, Smother and no more hesitation while cruising thank god. Car still seems very sluggish below 3000 though, When is primary turbo supposed to kick in? mine doesn\'t come on till between 2500-3000, is this right? Mate of mine told me primary should come on pretty much instantly, (around 1200rpm from memory)
