  1. stolen from LGT.com Q300 catback with a catless downpipe and EL headers, so in theory it should be fairly similar to what our twinscroll GT's will sound like. Still do quite like the dirty noises those Invidia exhausts make. No matter how many other options I look into I still come back to wanting this one. startup video with revs/ launch control windows down video windows up video
  2. Yours turn up yet? Got mine in over the weekend, wasn't a completely perfect install..
  3. Yea I know its not really needed but just want to keep the crap oil residue out of the intake
  4. Assume you're meaning the setup with the secondary head ports that drain the oil back down? And only goes into the catch can if it overfills the top tank? Was reading up on that one last night on DOBC, cool setup, would be good for a track setup but pretty far past the needs of most. Turns out researching catch cans is a prick of a thing to do, every man and his dog has a differing opinion on the matter
  5. Has it had a 2nd cambelt change? Have you ever whipped one of the covers off to see how it looks?
  6. Interesting, wouldn't have thought of that. Luckily the spare one i've got does happen to be plastic
  7. Assuming the stock ecu is being used? Think I read that a while back. Is flex fuel even that easy when using that, I know Matt can set it up but for some reason I believe it only works with stock injectors. Also being a bit older yours will have the 16bit ecu so isn't so friendly towards added features like flex fuel mapping.
  8. She's fool proof mate, the blowing one only goes about 15mm into the lid so unless its completely full there'll be no chance of getting a mouth full of the subaru sauce
  9. ^gonna love cleaning that crap up. Today's what-i've-done-when-I-should-be-working achievement is a new povo spec diff oil filler. Ye blows on one tube and thee oil comes out thee other.
  10. Guess i'll just grab one for now, may investigate the dual route later on
  11. So i've researched the reasons why people go for dual catch cans and see the logic behind it but how many of you out there are actually doing it? Is there a fair share just running single ones? If running single have you joined the crankcase and head lines together to feed the catch can or only filtering one of the two breather lines?
  12. Is there any possible downside to merging the two breather hoses that go into the turbo inlet into one with a T piece? Could only having one vacuum source potentially lead to one of the two not working all that well? ...Or am I just being paranoid again
  13. Nice. Those tail lights look way better than the overly clear/chromy standard ones
  14. Yea thats what I got too. Assume you don't get a selected transmission for the D2ZU200A def file? Could make the difference between being mostly usable or not
  15. Could also try AVO Australia, they do a turbo kit and a few other bits. Was looking at some of their stuff for mine the other day and they sent me an email half an hour later saying they can do free shipping to NZ when its over a certain amount.
  16. Could be length maybe. Half/quarter coil longer for the wagons to achieve the same drop whilst keeping the same rate.
  17. ****ty compared to what? A v6 one? Yea did originally say wagon, but meant to say sedan. GC is always for sedan.
  18. Its obviously not a perfect list with absolutly everything. That ones almost yours, just a v4 (E) instead of v3 (D) GC8EK8D = Turbo 4 door
  19. Maybe it is actually a UK model. That seems to be where the different plate layout you mention comes from. http://www.subaru-impreza.org/forum/technical-general/18185-impreza-applied-model-engine-codes.html That would tell you its a v3 WRX sedan
  20. Thinking the same as sobanoodle, just too much lower to be anything else considering it was even before the swap. From what i've seen they don't actually list the rates as being any different between 3.0/gt and wagon/sedan but there is obviously some minor difference there. You get rid of the other rims or just have them off till you get this sorted?
  21. Having now drained it and pulled the bolt out I can see the bolt is super short and has only ravaged half the length of thread. Happened to have a spare top plug which is quite a bit longer than the bottom for some reason so gave it a decent amount of thread tape and chucked her in, hoping the remaining thread will do its thing And these have 180's so don't imagine 2nd hand covers are quite as common or as cheap.
  22. Na not a clue yet. If i drill the old thread clean out i'd need a 20mm drill bit, so guess that corresponds to a 20mm tap? Thought about thread tape but would rather do things right and not have to worry about it failing.
  23. True. Thought so since most of the main workings are sealed anyways. Just gotta find someone with a tap then
  24. So was under the car doing the sways, noticed the diff plug had a bit of oil round it and decided to give it a bit of a tighten. As my luck would guarantee, pretty much the second It started moving it got a whole lot looser and the thread is now royally stuffed. Anyone done something this dumb before? Don't think I can get the diff rear cover off with lowering it down. And think it may be a bit hard getting all fillings out if a tap is used whilst still on the car. Would prwfer to not have to lower it but if thats the only way then i'll have to give it a crack
