Got them in my RevD GTB....no problem at all. Next to no dust.
My friend uses them in his workshop for every brake job he does....no come backs with noise!
There will be a short in the wiring for your headunit....especially if its a mess as you say.
You really need to go through all those wires and tidy them up and check all connections.
You will go over a speedbump or something and they will move and touch and you will be back to square one.
Cheers for the info guys...esp Mitsi Guy.
Yeah in a similar situation as you....work paying for shipping costs for furniture etc so I guess if I get a container out of them could look at putting the car in and doing it that way.
It is a TT BH5D. Have seen them on ebay and craigslist over there. Average about 14K+ for a revC so it could be worth doing.
Would love to take a BP over but as you said it needs to have been owned for a year in NZ so would be 2 late for us now.
Move is to Perth. 1 thing we considered doing was shipping the car to Melbourne and driving it across. Prob end up costing more as its a fair distance.
Mitsi guy can you keep me updated with how you got on please? Can give you email or phone number if you like?
Cheers.
Craig....
Hey
Moving to OZ at the end of the year.
I know its possible to register my BH5D over there so Im looking for someone who has done this in the past?
Mostly looking for info on shipping companies and the service/price recieved.
A replacement car over there would cost me far more as this car owes me nothing.
Cheers.
Put a headlight bulb across the fuse thats blowen (make a harness with spade terminals to do this) and start wiggling wires and turning things on until it lights up to find your short.
Where was the leak??? Was the belt comtaminated???
If the leak was any where in the front of the engine and I had the belt off to fix it I WOULD def reccomend you replace it!
100km is not a magic number when a belt fails....they can go more....and they can go alot less!
I searched for ages and asked the question on here but had to bite the bullet and buy some of trademe. You will have to pay decent coin for them.
Only option is one of the good brands and a BH specific fit kit.
If you managed to still bleed it and get a "decent" pedal then it should be fine.
There will still have been some residual fluid on the system to lubricate the rubbers so the chances of them being damaged are pretty slim.
Mines a Rev D mate.
if its 01 i wudnt think so, have a look at the model number, i.e. my old BH leggy model number was BH5C5CD, the fourth letter along states what rev it is.
100% Rev D 100% 2001....I'm a mechanic by trade ;-) Maybe it was a late 01 or was registered as an 01 by mistake on import if your saying RevD was not until 02????
