  1. James May says they same thing. If it's been tested at the ring it will a rubbish car for everyday driving
  2. Being very cynical here (Im allowed too as I have got to the age where you are allowed to be) but Im thinking it will only really be a badge and some extra plastic clip on bits and coloured stitching. Would be interesting to see the actual differences once its released. And definitely needs the roof scoop
  3. Did not know this. Interesting, have to fill up tonight so will try it. Also need to find the Topic about setting the door for keyless entry.
  4. Just registered now, thanks @Joker
  5. Good to hear. Did you buy it off a Subaru dealer? I brought mine from a non subaru dealer so not sure what happens with them and recall letters
  6. Im confused. So its not bullshit you were caught, but then you say otherwise you wouldn't be trusted with such a car, I thought it would be the otherway round. I know if I did dumb stuff and was caught my folks wouldn't trust me, especially in a high powered car.
  7. Or just wait and see if it goes pop one day
  8. Sorry may have worded wrong. What I was looking at were spacers that go between the top of the shock and the body mounting points.
  9. Awesome - good to know. I thought I saw somewhere about steering components and OEM angles, but missed that section. Thank you Now I will allow for the Cert into my dream budget
  10. Comparing a WRX to a Mondeo, BAHAHHAHA - its more like comparing apples and lemons! and yes I used to drive a mondeo - the 2.5 lounge suite wagon version.
  11. Ok so been looking into lifted outbacks. Would be keen to do in the future but have questions you guys might be able to help with. Iv'e found a couple of ways to lift the car 1: higher springs - about a 1 inch lift 2: A lift kit which contains suspension spacers and uprated springs 3: A combination of both The main area of concern is would I need to get the suspension certified? I have read the rules and Im still left a little unsure (If I was to do this I would call to clarify, but this is just a idea at this point) From LTNZ: The springs or shock absorbers are direct replacements, and replacement springs are contained within unmodified OE seats throughout full suspension travel, and replacement springs are self-retaining in their seats at full extension, without the use of non-standard devices such as wire-ties, straps, or external spring locators, and replacement springs have not been heated or cut, and springs and spring seats are not height adjustable by any means (unless OE), and replacement shock absorbers, including air-adjustable units, fit unmodified OE mountings, and suspension maintains sufficient travel for safe operation when fully laden, and suspension components maintain sufficient clearance from unmodified bumpstops when fully laden, and a minimum of 100mm ground clearance (unladen and without driver) exists below any part of the vehicle structure, or any steering, braking or suspension component2, and the normal relationship between front and rear suspension height is not unduly affected. So by going by these rules I should be able to lift without issues?
  12. Good thing will be if you can keep your insurance and drivers license clean till you are 25 (I think that's when you stop paying ridiculous amounts for excess) then you shouldn't have any worries later, as in you have all ready had a high performance car and clean record, discounted insurance premiums over your friends who will still be sky high.
  13. I remember asking for 205's and was told they didn't make them in certain sizes anymore (Can't remember what actual size it was for but was for my corolla) I think thats why I got the 195s for the legacy as well. Get a good quality 195/60 - 55 proflie, I get a lot of grip out of the 195s on my car.
  14. I would have though 205/65/R15 could be a bit tall. I will check what I have on the the legacy, I think they are 195/60/R15 and I wouldn't want to go taller in side wall profile. Taken from nasioc - 205/55R15 for GC8 1992-1996
  15. Moved the RS off the front lawn and got it back to its usual spot. Had to get the outback to pull it off the small patch of grass and timber lip. Then pushed it in place. Doesn't help that the concrete is wet and slippery. Now to get it running again! At least the wife's happy it's not on the lawn.
  16. I think I've changed my mind and would go for a supercharged 3.6
  17. Ive been using normal and sport mode the last couple of days. Notice a difference in low throttle inputs, but in sport it seems to rev really high with not a lot happening.
  18. My dream is to put a 2.5 Turbo wrx engine into the Outback, lift it a few inches, add a front and rear nudge bar type thing. Something along the lines of this:
  19. From what I remember reading I think its the BL/BP 2003 models not the last BE/BH.
  20. I don't think the dream is killed at all. You could still do what you wanted and get a car that is fast on the street legally and will kick other cars around street and track circuits. It would definitely be something different and would make an interesting car. As you said this all dreaming, in the clouds type stuff. But just remember that if you post something someone doesn't think would work or agree with it might not be a dream killer, I have had day dreams about what I would do to my Outback-but they will always be dreams as I don't think I could spend the money on what I wanted to do. Dream away, thats where some brilliant ideas come from Ok I think Im starting to ramble again, back to doing some more work before I get distracted again
  21. But wouldn't the ECU be tuned to the restricted airflow, and if you throw more air in will it not run leaner? Also I would take the ex Russian fighter jet or back flipping monster truck
  22. Just called Subaru NZ (Armstrongs) and had a talk with someone there about this. Tuns out the airbag issue is not with all JDM imports, only some. I have been given an email address to send my details to to check if it is affected. The email address is : [email protected] They need to know: Your name Rego number Phone number If you have had any recall letters Apparently the system is down at the moment and the new system is going to up and running late next week. So it may take a while to get an answer. Also the good news if you are affected then it is repalced at no cost even if imported.
  23. Good question - didn't even think of that. Im hoping its not like the dash issue where they said it wasn't their issue. Might fir a quick email off to Subaru NZ and see what they say before going to a dealer. Will keep you posted with what I hear back
  24. So I take it then that the only difference between non eco mode and sport mode would be gear changes? As in sport had a higher rpm limit for changes
