  1. Looked over a mates new (to him) Impreza S-GT (WRX). Car looked quite tidy, popped open engine bay and noticed a yellowed clear vacuum house running to the firewall from the front of the engine. Was hooked up to a boost sensor for the cheap boost gauge. Followed the hose and found a large split where the unsecured hose had sat on the turbo heatshield... Zip-tied off the hose as best I could at the t-join. Told my mate to go buy some vacuum hose and just get rid of the t-join and disconnect the aftermarket sensor. He reported back saying it accelerates much smoother now I should think so, considering the car no longer has a major boost leak.
  2. Drove the Coromandel loop for the first time over the weekend. Wasn't pushing it too hard but really enjoyed the drive.
  3. Pretty sure that its 9006/HB4. You can easily check on Partsouq.com Just search for your chassis number.
  4. Keen to hear your feedback on LEDs and bulbs Just for reference, I went yellow fogs on my 2002 in the past and decided to do the same again on my 2011:
  5. I'd honestly just go for brighter and whiter bulbs. I'd go for a good branded bulb (think the BL/BP takes HB4/9006) like the Philips X-tremeVision. A mate tried LEDs on their BL5 and due to the factory housing, it doesn't illuminate anything.
  6. What are you trying to achieve and in what car? I know you can swap to LED in most cars but some are less effective than others.
  7. Whiteline rear sway bar installed... Removing the stock bar was relatively easy, installing the Whiteline bar was going well until I went to tighten one of the upper sway bar mount bolts... Managed to cross-thread the damn thing! (many expletives were used). After a very sedate trip to @Subirex Automotive, a quick rethread and some power tools make the rest of the job a lot quicker. I must say, I had high expectations for the 22mm bar, and it exceed them. The car is way flatter through the corners, allowing me to go significantly quicker on entry and carry the speed through the apex. Surprisingly very little negative impact to the ride comfort. Almost makes it more comfortable due to the lack of roll. Would definitely recommend all the 5th Gen owners look at doing the same.
  8. Pretty sure the covers actually help hold it all together. Just plasti dip them like I did:
  9. Cheers for the tips! Found the bar had a small paint chip during transit... Thanks NZ Couriers. So I decided to touch up the paint with some spare Legacy silver and clear coat. Might try install this weekend.
  10. 100% Cotton or fire proof overalls (please ensure they are oil/grease & paint free) A crash helmet in good condition Shoes (not sandals or jandals) Drivers license We also recommend cotton shirt, underclothes and socks (for fire safety). Source: http://www.playdayontrack.co.nz/faqs.html
  11. Not at all. Seen much slower autos go around Manfield.
  12. 1 question which I'm sure a few people will ask. How to we check to see if we are still a subscribed member? I think mine might be up?
  13. I had Bluetooth support on my Pioneer headunit in my old Legacy, was great. Unfortunately the stock headunit in my new Legacy has Bluetooth calling but not streaming. The calls work great, just wish it had streaming support. Might be able to swap the headunit out for a better Subaru OEM unit with BT streaming.
  14. Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound from the premium Subaru range. All I need now is a better factory headunit with Bluetooth streaming.
  15. @Joker that video quality is so bad Looks like they've just stuck a fisheye lens on a 480p camera. For comparison, this is from my dashcam which I've had for a few years now: I'm looking at getting a new dashcam that's a bit more discreet than my current one. Current one doesn't fit very well in the new Legacy due to rearview mirror, rain/light sensor and sun visors.
  16. Unknowingly drove past this on the weekend. Wouldn't have found a park there anyway. Was packed as.
  17. Yeah I don't really use it in traffic besides the Hill Assist as I don't want to over-use it and it adds another split second to those critical rush hour crawls...
  18. Replaced faulty fog bulbs with yellow ones Hehe, yep I did know that. I actually read the owners manual when I bought the car
  19. Depends how much of an incline I'm on. If it's my garage I don't bother, but for a steep street/driveway I will do as you've said. Does your car beep when you lift the outside driver's door handle when the car is locked? Only some 4th Gen have the feature.
