    CHRISTCHURCH TAG

Do we need a hint to keep this moving? In the background of this pic is a notable house. It is in the major suburb to the West of Hagley Park with a big shopping centre. I'm sure someone can find it
  2. Second what @McMatty said. I love reading build threads. You should absolutely start one.
  3. How much cheaper is a ton cheaper? You can get 294mm rotors from bnt for like $30 trade if you don't get slotted.
  4. If it is a bolt on hub then the job is pretty simple. Wheel off, CV nut off, caliper off, rotor off, unbolt hub and slide it off the CV shaft. Then re-assemble in reverse order. (I may be missing a step but that is the gist of it) Put a little copper anti-seize on the CV splines before re installing to make the next guy's life easier. You can buy the bolt in hubs both with and without the flange for the wheel pressed in. If you buy one without the flange (on right in pic) you will need to press your old one out of the old hub, then press it into the new hub. Which as Caleb said is much easier with a shop press. Only trick is if the CV splines are stuck in the hub, just spray a bunch of CRC/WD40 in there put the nut back on and drive it around for a couple more days then try the job again. Don't get too carried away with a steel hammer trying to whack it out because if you mushroom the end you will have a bad day.
  5. The twenties and suspension they come with chew through tyres like nothing else. Not much wrong with them, just boring and ugly. One of these?
  6. ^^^ Good info and write up. I second pretty much all of it. Yeah also seen the same out of the new Navara and the Colorados, very few issues. I forgot to mention the Colorado but it is a solid truck, not particularly flash but it gets the job done every time with no issues from what I've seen. I'm not much of a fan of the Ssangyong however.
  7. I've driven a few and they are definitely nice to drive. Probably my favourite to drive out of the bunch. But yeah I have seen two with random dash issues where the whole dash flickers in and out, one of which wouldn't start anymore. Weird body control issues or something. Most of the trucks I see are broken though so there are probably plenty driving around with zero issues.
  8. Considering 2014on... Navara is ok Ranger is good but has random massive electrical issues on some of the trucks, Hilux is ok but flips over if you have the low profile tyres and swerve at 80kmh. I'm not really a ute guy but that is my 2c.
  9. Did you use v10 sedan rear arms for the swap? I've read the v10 have a better front arm (in the rear) or something too. Subaru did away with the "taco" design which was heavier and weaker and changed to a rod like the rear arm instead. Perhaps the perfect set up is v10 front arm and v7 rear arm then Sounds like your sway bar is mad about the swap and taking it out on everything else
  10. I had already fixed the leak but that was exactly what was happening to the smoke. It was funnelling it like a chimney As I said in the first post I had already replaced the drivers rocker cover gasket and verified it wasn't leaking anymore. Turns out there was just some leftover oil caked to mani to uppipe flange behind the manifold heatshield. I cleaned it off as best as I could with de-greaser and took it out for a long drive with plenty of boost. It took quiet a bit of driving but it eventually stopped smoking. So all good now Thanks for the help guys. Lesson learned, take your car for a thrash after changing rocker covers to get rid of all the oil on the exhaust!
  11. I'm just starting to get into this Instagram thing.
  12. I warmed it up, took the downpipe off then tried running it up to temp without the downpipe and it definitely isn't losing oil out the rear, intercooler is still dry too. I did notice a bit of oil build up on the uppipe down at the bottom hidden behind the heat shield for the header.. I'll try cleaning that up once it cools down then take it for a run again and see if there is any improvement.
  13. Awesome! I'm keen to see some photos on your garage thread. You are still factory height right? Are you planning on getting some rear camber bolts?
  14. Did you use the sedan axles or the r180 wagon ones in the end? Edit: Nvm I saw your above post. Did you not shove them all the way into the diff past the clip on the axle?
  15. Are you keeping the wrx injectors or bumping up to STI pinks to match the turbo?
  16. Nah they aren't interchangeable. Sedan bumpers are wider to go along with the wider guards. Wagons have narrower guards and a narrower bumper. You could swap the bumper and guards over to wagon sized but then you would miss out on a lot of wheel to guard clearance. Plus you would lose the wider look of the sedan.
  17. It could also be that the HID ballast is failing. Not really sure how to test a ballast but I'm sure google will tell you.
  18. Do both lights come on at first? Then one disappears?
  19. Are you sure it is not the bulb? Swap the bulbs between the sides to verify if it is the bulb or the power feed/ground. You could try wiglying the wires to see if you can get the light to dip in and out indicating a poor ground or connection somewhere. Then if it is a wiring issue then trace the wiring and check for breaks, loose connections or poor grounds. Remember if they are the HIDs they use a very high voltage so be sure key is off and maybe disconnect the battery if you are unsure before removing bulbs.
  20. I think it is in front of the radiator down the bottom of the bumper somewhere. Mine definitely gets heat soaked, however the reading is fairly reliable after the car has been moving for 5mins or so. As boon said I just use it to keep an eye on when it may be icy and to complain that it is way too hot in the summer!

  22. Invest in a good breaker bar and a set of single hex impact sockets. A good length of strong pipe too and you will be able to get just about anything off without stripping it. Make sure to get a set with 14,17,19,22,24, those are the sizes you will most use on your Subaru. A 32 would be good too as the CV nuts are 32 I believe. I'm not 100% on that though, they might be 36.
