  1. Yep..............Thats ya problem right there! Nice photo to prove it too. Replace radiator or get it repaired/flushed. Easy fix. BEFORE it does blow the head gasket.
  2. Certifiers name is Noel Miller. ..Min height of vehicle i believe is 150mm?. Airbags..interesting concept and feasible too. Why not? Good shock to control it, should be as good as springs with levelling abilities. Just like a Bus!...lol. even urabus..A?
  3. Yep the turbo cooks it. Cooks it even quicker when racing too.! However the temp in the sump changes no more than 20 degrees. "C" No amount of after market cooling ness will affect/stop this...ummmmm. call it a turbo car Issue?
  4. Oil too cold =Bad. Oil too hot =Bad. Modine = perfect. Monitor it with a temp probe and see!..
  5. Heads and/or block recently machined? Incorrect line bore alignment of cams too crankshaft centre. This will/does cause "belt walk" Or the aluminium bracket that holds the tensioner setup/idlers onto the block maybe loose or damaged alignment wise.
  6. Makes me sick to hear this. Words cannot describe these lo life types. Every car ive had stolen(4) has also been trashed. Worst thing is the cops cannot find anyone responsible. If there was a murder committed in it they would though. Go figure? Stop the lo life scum and they will not progress to higher crime. Simple? Heres hoping they get someone for this crime however. Even if they only gets a slap over the wrist with a wet bus ticket as usual.. Name and shame them anyway!!
  7. So that at long last. A sleepa car! With handling AND air con....Perfect. The Mrs loves it too...Under 4000rpm. I love it over 4K..Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,
  8. That system has already been shot down... and still vents to the atmosphere. : NO FURTHER COMMENT FROM ME. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > SEE WHY http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,41290.0.html
  9. Turbo dead. possible hole in water cooling side. exhaust will have "sweet" coolant smell. Not oily. Either way Dead turbo.
  10. About time they come down and applied the regs on catch can systems with respect to fuming filter vents. WOF inspectors will be onto it soon as well. To create good crankcase vacuum there are a couple of ways. Here is some reading. http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,40976.0.html
  11. Maintaining sump vacuum aids your oil pump. Bigger or baffled sump obviously allows "bubble settle out" too. A well setup breather system/good sump crankcase vacuum and the subaru will not lose pump suction in hi "G" cornering. Most engines where the driver (subaru specific) has said or has had the oil pressure fluctuation/loss during cornering have a catch can system to atmosphere. The original breather system also altered/disconnected. I see two ways to sort it out, Bigger, baffled sump or Better crankcase evacuation. Better evacuation also removes moisture, gasses, and oilmist,Less air being swirled around too.
  12. Hi compression is the only way...Now thats an opinion. But read some of this! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2583554 certainly would not advise building any engine with cobbled together bits/n/bobs...will fail, just tear up $100 bills...Get the same buzz!
  13. Gear 300 is ok, FF LSD is just a wee bit better. With respect to shear-load lubricity for EP applications.
  14. Use that with any factory subaru front LSD equipped box as well. The factory LSDs in the 6 speeds do not require any special LSD oils, as they are either viscous (suretrac) or helical, not plated (hence no need for an LSD specific oil - but you can still use it, I dount it would do any harm, apart from costing a bit more!) Guess i should have stated..Plated type Lsd...The Dccd is a plated clutch mechanism however...Yep costs $4.00 a litre more. Tis fully synthetic...Reduced my fuel bill...another 800 metres/litre in my wagon. Good stuff
  15. Here is the answer to your issue. Total tuneability that you will not regret Be Quick!!... http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,41349.msg527327.html#msg527327
  16. Motul Gear oil FF LSD 75W/90 for DCCD and LSD applications. Up rated bushes? Make some maybe?...The OEM bushes are pretty good. Four of 2 different sizes fitted in the knuckle.
  17. Connect air compressor to #4..Rotate engine carefully and listen for the hiss., Sump?,Exhaust? ,Intake?, Or does the radiator cap lift?...Simple Leak down test. This will answer what is at fault. Head issue in all probability.
  18. Glass rope upper limit is 500C....So specify 500 or more...GEEEZ i said that already.
  19. Just a by note....If you source this wrap from a reputable insulation company such as Forman or Ideal. You will pay about 50% less for approx 50% more material than repco, supercheap, etc. Just specify 500C or more. Or ask for either Kevlar or Kaowool based material. They will also have various widths you can choose from.
  20. Do the 2nd hand engine swap out. Will have a bent valve or two...So around a 2k job to repair. Easy to do in a day...Well I can by myself.
  21. Thats because it is "glass" tape not Kaowool based. Only Kaowool and kevlar based heat wraps are any good.
  22. This car is going to race in germany. Here is a link http://jalopnik.com/this-2015-subaru-wrx-sti-will-race-the-nurburging-for-2-1498579851
  23. Ah yes that be true!...However one should. "Do it once do it right"...Just a bit of patience whilst one saves the dough really. Rewiring a car could lead to all sorts of angst. Not to mention hours etc, etc. Just information not having a dig at anyone\'s method of overcoming an upgrade engine installation.
