Bethunes Gully has history in the car club going back more than 60 years, this steep sealed event through a narrow cutting at the start is one to hold your breath on from bottom to top. It is quite bumpy and known to have the odd cow pat strategically place on the racing line to spice things up as you turn right at the top of the hill between the sheds. https://oscc.co.nz/Event/7-Bethunes-Gully

Patmos Ave is another historic event but has proved to be very popular in recent years. A narrow, slippery first section runs into a fast ‘straighter’ section before coming across a very bumpy braking area into a banked chicane opening out to another short straight and a 90° right hander uphill to the finish, short and sweet with the finished cars parking on the first over bridge of Dunedin’s northern motorway. MSNZ M grade license required https://oscc.co.nz/Event/6-Patmos-Ave
  3. Yeah I love getting people into this, it's so much fun, and I've found it stops people fooling around on open roads a bit which is always good
  4. Have thrown it into the calendar. May add a few more later on, mostly Hill climbs announced at the moment, but should be a fair few Autocrosses this summer

  6. Pretty much the exact same as the Otago ones, one open track on the grass, and 2 cars on at a time, but the second one isn't released until the first is half way through the track, so you never see each other. Great fun, and yeah perfect for learning car control.
  7. Thought I'd share this awesome autocross that's on this weekend, in case anybody hasn't seen it and may want to come. $25 per person or $15 for under 18. Road tyres only http://www.escc.co.nz/uploads/6/4/0/4/64040323/eastern__southland__car__club__mills_autocross_2016.pdf Some cheap fun if you're free and in the area!
  8. I believe they rebuilt the turbo in my RA, and so far that's running without issue, so one can assume they do decent work, haha.
  9. Yeah I'd say they should, considering they're similar age etc. They're quite expensive there, but we got this one on trade, so it wasn't too bad.
  10. Can't help with the outback side, but we picked one up from Jaycar a while ago, and it worked without issues on my parent's '09 WRX STI. So could be an option there?
  11. GX was nicer on fuel, but also has harsher suspension, and the bucket seats. Where as the RA was a heck of a lot more fun on the corners and in general, RA also meant I could overtake on hills with no trouble
  12. My parent's have one of these, also a 2009.It's a great car for what they wanted, something fast, but auto. Theirs does have the 4 pots, and no DCCD sadly. Purchased with 90000KMs and has since had it's 100,000KM service. The only issue they've had with it was the EGR system failing, but a quick reflash of the ECU to remove the errors, and blanking plates installed, and it's all gone, never to be seen again.
  13. Drove down to invercargil twice to help a friend move his stuff up here, took the GX one day, and the RA the next. Was interesting to compare them both on a longish journey both ways, and neither car gave me any trouble
  14. Aww that sucks that nobody seems to do that anymore.
  15. This also annoys me a lot, and even a few friends of mine do it, and I tell them off every time, but they just ignore it... I don't understand their reasons at all.
  16. Yeah that's one of the down sides sadly. and stuff flat towing all the way back to Christchurch!
  17. What about levels? It's a little bit further to travel, but could be an option?
  18. I'm curious to hear what they respond with, as we looked at hiring out Teretonga a few years back, and required emergency services etc, which is what put us off, due to the cost.
  19. If it could be counted as one, then my FTO GPX would be my first 'performance' orientated car, followed by my RS-RA, which was a big step up in power!
  20. Ouch! Sorry to hear. My parents had a similar thing happen to them when they bought a brand new Legacy back in 09, within a few weeks someone had smacked their door right in the same spot
  21. that's fine by me, guess it all depends on what @RAYDEO is up to?
  22. Either of those work for me, I finish at 5.30
  23. What age/generation are you looking for in each of them? and for what purpose is the car going to be? A daily/fun car?
